It’s ok for a starter but don’t plan on resawing anything. A 1/8″ blade does ok, a little hard to balance. It will cut circles and rarely bogs down. The 1/4″ blade is about the best overall but you will have plenty of drift. While it says it does 3/8″ blades, the thrust bearing is almost in constant contact with the blade even with the blade far forward. It doesn’t help for drift much so I can’t say I recommend the 3/8″ blade. I wish it had bearing guides as the blocks just don’t do a good job. One big annoyance on this saw is the table. While you can square it, the lock isn’t great. I wouldn’t use it at anything other than 90 degrees if you need accuracy. Also, the insert around the blade is below the table top by about 1/32″. The result is wood will hang when being fed. I also regret not having a fence. This product is identical to the Ryobi, though the Ryobi seems to lock the table better.

This is an inexpensive band saw for a hobbyist. I will need to tweak it some to get the table perpendicular to the blade. It will work fine for light use. The blade guides (left/right) appear to be plastic and not as sturdy as more expensive saws that use bearings on the sides of the blade also.
