My mother used a pressure cooker when I was a child. My wife’s family did not and she was not familiar with them. This new style of pressure cooker can also act as a rice cooker, slow cooker and browner. The new cookers are much safer than old ones but you still need to read the directions if you don’t want shooting steam in your face. So we decided to try something simple to start the learning process. We bought a 4# chicken and after rinsing and patting it dry we put it in the pressure cooker on “brown” with a little oil. The pot obviously got very hot because the oil was really popping. We used a splatter shield. We didn’t try to get the chicken really brown- we just wanted to try out the feature.Next we lifted the chicken out and put in the perforated little tray and 1 cup of water and then returned the chicken to the pot. Set the dial to “poultry” and the timer to 25 minutes, closed the lid, put the quick pressure release valve on “cook” and hit the “start” button. 25 minutes later we turned the unit off and let the pressure release on its own. The chicken internal temp was checked (it was 185 so we could have shortened the time) and removed from the pot. The chicken was tender and moist. The instruction booklet leaves a bit to be desired – the index is only for recipes. One has to flip thru the booklet to find a particular instruction. Some instructions leave one more confused than instructed. Still, with the two of us reading, trying out and talking it over we figured everything out. The unit is beautiful and well built and looks and feels like top quality but it is really big and will take up a significant amount of cupboard space. One could give away the rice cooker and slow cooker and just keep this one pot to save space. It saves turning on the oven to “roast” a chicken and does it in record time. People tell me that the real benefit of having a pressure cooker is for beans – we’ll try that next.

I had just bought an Insta Pot and hadn’t taken it out of the box yet when a friend gave me this as a gift. Took the Insta Pot back and tried this out. I’ve ojoy used it once but I like that it’s bigger. I used to have an old fashioned pressure cooker but it always made me a little nervous. Technology has come a long way. I think I’m really going to like this!!

This 6 quart capacity pressure cooker is ideal for preparing a large variety of meals in much less time than other cooking methods. But, in addition to pressure cooking, it can be used to slow cook, steam and saute’. I like that it has a digital display and in addition to the pre-set programs, I can manually set the controls for my recipes. Cleaning is easy with the removable cooking pot. This cooker incorporates many safety features and comes with a very detailed instruction and recipe book.

My Presto Pressure Precise cooker Plus review. This is my first time cooking in a pressure cooker. I am glad it was this Presto electric pressure cooker because it was easy to use following the detailed instructions. After getting familiar with this Presto pressure cooker and all its safety features it was time to pick a recipe from the instruction book.I choose the Beef Stew. I modified the recipe slightly to my liking. Unlike conventional cooking on a stove with a pressure cooker there is nothing you can do to adjust the recipe until it is done. In my case there was only one thing that needed to be improved. The finished beef stew was not thick enough but did not detract from the overall taste and in fact it was quite good. All I had to do was thicken the broth which was easily done. I transferred the broth in a separate sauce pan and using gravy master and flour thickened my Beef Stew perfect to my liking. Now the next time I make beef stew it will perfect at the completion of the cooking process. This first time was a learning experience. I know the actual cooking time is much longer as you need to account for the warm up time as the cooking does not start until the pressure cooker is up to temperature and under pressure. Then after it is done you still need to wait until all the pressure has dissipated to open the pressure cooker. Between the warm up and the cool down can easily add an hour to the cooking time. The Presto Pressure cooker was convenient and easy to use with satisfying results. I can’t wait to choose another selection from the menu.PRESTO PRESSURE PRECISE COOKER PLUS VIDEOhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWforOzeOOg
