We’ve been using this for a few months now and without ripping open my softener and inspecting the internal conditions – I have to assume it’s working. There has been no foul odor or noticeable build ups since we started using it, and it’s fairly easy to apply. We’ve been using the dry application – where a small amount is added to the top of the salt layer before you add a new bag, as opposed to the wet application which requires premixing with water. It only adds a few seconds to the process of adding salt and will hopefully extend the life of our system.

This preventative cleaner is well worth the money. I started using it as a result of a bacteria in my salt tank that caused a wretched smell in my water. I was introduced to the product by the plumber I called to come and identify the cause of the smelly water. She put a little of this directly into the system and then some in the tank and the problem was gone the next day. Super great stuff.Now i sprinkle a little over each section of salt I poor in and I have not had a problem since.I love this stuff.

When we bought our house it came with a gross old looking water softner. I personally said this old junker needs to go. My husband however was quite excited as it was a reputable brand and he said it certainly has some life left in it. I was skeptical. He hosed it off and cleaned it up. He turned it on and it made some noise. He cycled the Softner Mate through it and then cycled a few more times, it worked! I have clean, soft water.

Let’s face it. Anybody who owns a water softener knows that you must keep the bed clean or you will be buying a new water softener every few years. In this area there is a lot of iron in the water and my softener is an automatic one that regenerates based on quantity of water used. I have used the salt that has the iron cleaner in it but the salt is quite a bit more expensive than the regular salt. The Softener Mate is as easy as it gets to just dump in the tank when I add salt and it cleans when the softener goes through its cycle. A lot cheaper than paying extra for the cleaner salt. I definitely notice a difference in the water now that I have switched from the cleaner salt to Softener Mate.

I’ve had the water softener in my house for a long time. The softener worked great when it was installed but it seemed like it wasn’t working like it did at first. I was thinking about getting the softener replaced when I found softener mate. I was pretty skeptical at first. I had a very happy surprise. After using the softener mate the first time it seemed to me that the water was softer, but not like new. I added softener mate a second time( as the directions said) and I have a new water softener. I will be using softener mate form now on. I can’t recommend this enough. If your softener isn’t working like it used to you owe it to yourself to give this a try.
