For years I have depended on the eight cup measure for mixing, measuring and microwave peanut brittle making. Now it comes with two very welcome changes. A lid to accommodate storage and numbers printed on the inside for easier measuring. These are GREAT! Always have been and continue to be.

I knew the volume this measuring cup could contain, but while I was assembling my ingredients to bake a dessert I realized I could use the measuring cup as my mixing bowl. Because of the measuring cup’s handle and spout, pouring the batter into the baking dish was easy. The measuring cup had plenty of room for the entire recipe, plus space for my electric mixer to do its work without splattering batter everywhere. You can even use the lines on the measuring cup when adding recipe ingredients (no need for another measuring cup), and you’ll end up with two, three, etc., fewer dishes to wash when finished.

I love using this measuring cup to mix so many things. Most of the batter bowls I found were taller and more narrow. I like that it is shorter and more open. Most of the other bowls have the measurements made into the glass so it’s all the same color. I specifically wanted the Pyrex brand because of the colored measurements that made it easy to read. The only con I find is that I wish the handle curved all the way down and also attach at the bottom. The handle feels short and I’m scared I’m not going to grab far enough up and drop it. But other than that, I love the bowl.

I started out with the Corning Microwave Plus measuring cups with the rigid blue lids. They came in 4 and 8 cup sizes. I used them for everything. When I found the Pyrex measuring cups in 8 cup size, I bought 2.. Then I found the 2 cup size with lids. I now have 8 of these. I use them for everything and everyday. They are perfect for gravy, mashed potatoes, vegetables, soup.
