It is an excellent product. I used it to score some vinyl tiles. It worked great.I didn’t need to buy an expensive tile cutter to do the job..

I used this backboard knife on 4×8″ sheets of Wonder-board for 850 sq ft of floor. It lasted thru to the end of the job with no problem and is still sharp! We had to do a lot of cutting and this tool was up to the task. Forget about trying to cut cement board with a regular utility knife, this is the right tool for the job and is very reasonably priced to boot.

The scoring knife is good at removing grout from tile spacing and the tungsten carbide tips stay sharp.

i purchased this item april 2014 it scores the board well and with repeated scoring deeper penetration is acquired yet the handle will crack when hammered to use as a chisel easily, there is nothing inside the handle except the end of the 3 carbide tip knife…i don’t understand what’s supposed to be in the handle

Plastic handle is flimsy and broke. Doesnt cur into backer board that easily.. using 1/2 in hardie backer… cuts into 1/4 inch hardi backer fairly easily

Great for 1/2″ backer board, score with a straight edge, 4, 5, 6 times, flip it over and do the same and it is done. Clean enough for cement board. The people that are giving it bad reviews don’t know what they are doing.

I bought it to cut cement board and that’s what I did with it but ultimately, I switched to using a sawzall with a carbide tipped blade because I had a lot to cut. I didn’t really have a use for the chisel blade. I think it should be cheaper but is okay overall.

Used this tool to score the backerboard for shower and floor tile upgrade. Was pleasantly surprised at how much easier it was to score the backerboard than when I used a utility knife. I laid a straightedge along the cut line, and just pulled the tool down the line. Then I repeated for six, seven or so times until it had cut through the top layer of concrete and mesh membrane. Then flipped the board over and cut down the back side of the cut with a utility knife. Cutting was faster and easier with this tool. I wasn’t sure what the chisel tip was for until I screwed a board slightly overlapping another. Used the chisel tip to knock out 1/16″ overlap quickly and got the panel plumb. After cutting all the boards, it’s still in good shape for any future use.

This tool worked great for scoring backerboard. It made it easy to make cuts in the sheets. I also used it to remove grout between tiles. The tool was also useful for popping out spacers that had been used between newly set tiles.
