I’ve only had this a few weeks but it does what I need it to do. I’m very happy with it at this point!

I just received the Ridgid oscillating belt sander a month ago and initially I couldn’t get the spindle sander drums to stay tight. The belt sander worked well from the start. The rubber drums appeared to be too short and couldn’t be tightened. I live about an hour away from Home Depot and didn’t want to go through the hassle of returning it, so I used two large washers with an ID that were just a bit larger than the drive spindle. One washer wasn’t enough. Now I can tighten it up so the rubber drum expands and holds the sanding drum in place. The OD on the washers extends past the spindle sanding drums and will interfere with a taller work piece so I’ll have to come up with a different solution when that happens. Disappointing to buy a new tool and not have it work out of the box.

I think I’ve had this for about 10 years (Maybe more). I can’t imagine not having it. Rock solid, never had a problem with it, and it gets a lot of use.The only issue I have had is the nut that tightens the spindle down comes loose during heavy use, but that was easy enough to fix with a little blue locktite. The original drum paper lasted a long time before they wore out.I’ve gone through far more belts than drum paper.Dust collection is pretty good. With a vacuum it gets 85-90% of dust. with a dust collector and a second hose by the wide end of the drum it gets 98%.I have it on it’s own wheeled cabinet, so I can store all the different grit belts underneath. If it ever breaks I would not hesitate to buy another one.

Bought this 5years ago. Have used for DIY projects, wood floors, trim and a bathroom. The sander was used for cleaning, shaping and initial polish of marble tiles. The orbital sander was excellent for adjusting cutouts for plumbing in the tiles. The ability to set the face angle and tickle parts for precise joints is a major time saver. I use a vacuum to remove dust during use either via the vacuum port or taped to the bed in the case of the tile work. The portability of the unit means you can take it to the work which is a big deal. I have recommended this to many friends and colleagues, it that good.
