The RIDGID 4.5in Metal Grinding Diamond Wheel is a nice looking grinding disc. I have several of the abrasive types that shoot out lots of sparks and grinding dust along with the metal that is removed. This one “cuts like a new file.” I was very impressed. Hardly any sparks and dust given off. It came with an adapter to allow it to fit the 5/8-11 threads on the grinder arbor. Using that would have raised the disc out of the guard. The 7/8″ hole fit really nice in the Milwaukee grinder without the adapter, but the adapter will probably be useful with some of my other grinder wheels, so a nice addition. I put a point on an piece of 3/8 rebar. The photo shows the result after about 10 to 15 seconds of grinding. Using the old abrasive disc would have taken much more time. If this grinding wheel lasts at all it will be GREAT! That info will come with time.

The Ridgid 4.5 inch Metal Grinding Diamond Wheel is made strong and as you can see in my pictures it still looks like new except for some left over metal from my grinding. I used it with and without the provided adapter on my grinders and both ways worked equally well. I like that the only mess comes from the metal your grinding and not the abrasives from a standard grinding wheel and I believe this will last me a long time.

I used this with an angle grinder to produce mitered edges on some odd tile shapes. Coarse grinding power feels just about right, it levels ceramic tile with ease but not so quickly that it feels uncontrollable. Finish off cuts with a fine grinding surface followed by a few passes with a diamond polishing pad. Produces a ton of dust so make sure you wear a mask.
