No issues with assembly other than mounting motor. Following instructions initially lead to mounting flywheel on wrong side (possibly misread instructions but easily corrected). Otherwise, motor fired right up, fence set to 90 degrees. Works like a charm!!! I have quite a few Ridgid products and all are well made and reliable.

Nice machine, it’s made in Taiwan, I’ve had it for just about a month. Assembly went well. A word of caution, review the instructions before removing the cast iron from the box, as they advise setting the in-feed / out-feed casting, on 4 X 4’s; there is a standing roll pin that acts as a stop for the rotating safety guard, so don’t set it down on a flat surface as this roll pin could get damaged. You’ll also want a fuller compliment of tools than their suggested list, i.e. sockets, long extensions etc. Once I had it assembled I flipped on the switch and it came right on, curiously I came back a little later and flipped on the switch and it didn’t move, I got a electrical hum as the motor was stuck. Checking the motor turned freely by hand, to resolve the problem I had to adjust the belt tension (loosen) and then got it going – I let it run for several minutes, no problems since. Out of the box I had no problems with flatness or parallelism of the in-feed to out-feed, and once the fence was set to 90, checking with a Brown & Sharp Square it repeats to 90, my test piece was nice and square. You do want a good dust collector, mine is rated at 750 cfm. For the money the jointer it’s a 5 star machine.

The 6-1/8″ is a little misleading…also wish it came with casters.

Just picked it up today. Assembly was straightforward, easier than some of the toys I assembled on Christmas Eves past when my kids were young. After cleaning the shipping oil off the tables and the fence I gave them a good coating of paste wax to ensure that my work pieces would glide across them smoothly. Once I had everything together I checked the alignment of the outfeed table and cutter head with a steel straightedge, they were spot on right out of the box. Next I checked the fence’s 90, 45, and 135 degree presets. I had to make one vanishingly small adjustment on the 135 degree preset, but the other two were perfect just as they were. I was finally ready to run some wood so I grabbed a couple of 2 x 4’s from the scrap pile, ones weren’t flat or square. I set the infeed table for a 1/16″ cut and ran the face of the first board across the machine several times until it was nice and smooth. Then I placed that face against the fence and made several passes on the edge, until it was smooth. When I checked my work with the try square, the face and the edge were flat and 90 degrees to each other. I repeated the process with the second board, then placed the jointed edges together and held the boards up to the overhead LED lights. The edges mated perfectly, not even a hint of light anywhere along the joint. If it looked that good holding them together by hand I have no doubt the joint would all but disappear if glued, clamped and sanded. The real test will be using the jointer in a few projects, but I’m very impressed with what I’ve seen so far.

I’m not a professional – but I have a lot of uses for a jointer. I struggled over the price….but eventually bit the bullet. Great decision. This thing is really good.

Very pleased with the piece of equipment. The directions were easy to follow. I would recommend a two person assembly if able, one wasn’t too bad. The only problem I had was the ordering/shipping, my receiving date kept moving from day to day.

The best jointer!!!!

Good product but wish the base was wider so it would be more stable. Heavy unit so wheels are needed if you move it around in the shop.

After researching several models / styles jointers I chose this one. I ordered this unit from Home Depot Online. The package was delivered directly to my home and the guys even put it in the garage for me. All parts arrived with no shipping damage. In fact this machine was in the best shape of most machines I’ve purchased. Definitely recommend using the direct home ship option from Home Depot. For the assembly, I do recommend having some help. The solid cast iron top, even without the fence it quite heavy. Now I do have years of experience with equipment and assembly, but for me with my wife assisting, the instructions and assembly were very easy to follow. This unit is very solidly built, good strong motor with plenty of power. Heavy duty construction of the frame and legs. The Fence and tables are all cast iron. I used a straight edge to check the infeed and outfeed tables. I only had to slightly raise the outfeed table, using the adjustment handwheel and everything was dead flat. I set the outfeed table so the knives are just proud enough to grab the straight edge. The knives are straight across as from factory. This is explained in the manual as well as several YouTube videos. I adjusted the fence 90′ stop and set with a machinist square. When the fence is adjusted all the way down where it touches the table, primarily the outfeed table. If you move the fence while touching the table it will scratch the surface of table. So I set mine just a tad bit above the table using the fence adjustment lever. So now when I move the fence back and forth it doesn’t come in contact or scratch the table. Finished off by cleaning any shipping grease from the tables and fence. Only leaving grease where the fence slides on its track. I coated the bare surfaces with paste wax and buffed off. I believe this unit will last a lifetime and can be passed down to my boys. Don’t forget to register with Ridgid to get the LSA (Lifetime Service Agreement).Great Buy,Sharpie

I’ve only had it for a couple of weeks but seems like a high quality machine for a great price. It was easy to assemble, runs smooth and quite . I’m very satisfied.

I’m pleased with this well-built, easy to use machine. It’s a heavy duty jointer that allows you to make bevel cuts as well. Just know this is not a thickness planer. I’m not sure why it isn’t called simply a jointer.

Works great, out of the box. I just assembled per instructions, then squared the fence with a precision square and gave it a try. The finish was great and cut square to the fence, great glue joints. Plugged into my dust collector and got most of the chips. Works like my old craftsman jointer but can be connected to the dust collector. Great value for the price.

For some reason the exhaust isn’t working so all the chips end up flying back out from the opening where the blade is. Curious if anyone else had had this issue. I am currently using a 120v outlet and I am wiring it for 220v to see if that will fix the problem. If anyone has had the same issue and it was fixed by rewriting the appropriate voltage outlet i would be interested to hear your experience.

It heavy and awkard but then that is what makes it good. No complaints
