The RIDGID 6 in. Variable-Speed Dual Random Orbit Sander features electronic variable speed control of 4000 OPM to 10,000 OPM (no load speeds) to maintain constant speed and power under load applications. Its soft-start motor gradually increases the speed of the sander to provide an even finish. Its onboard vacuum adaptor fits standard 1-1/4 in. or 2-1/2 in. hoses for a cleaner, virtually dust-free work environment.

This sander exceeded my expectations. Unless you have a 60 gallon compressor to run an air sander, get the Rigid, you will not be disappointed. I’m using it to sand a tree trunk that will be an end table, and the variable speed makes it really nice to go over curves on a radius edge without taking too many layers off by accident.

This was a gift for my son who does a lot of sanding in his job and can’t always afford the newest tools. His old Ridgid was on it’s last leg, so I bought this one for Christmas. After he opened it, he told me his old one finally gave up a couple days before, caught fire and all!! He just let me know that after using this new sander, it’s incredible compared to his old one.

Effective product for woodworking needs-I’m refinishing 100 + year old hardwood floors and needed something that could pack a punch while getting into grooves where commercial equipment fails. My biggest complaint-the hook and loop sanding pad has a limited lifespan. I have a few of these sanders and this is a repeat problem. Notoriously, the hooks and loops wear down, and the adhesive sanding discs go flying across the room. After this happens, the only option is a replacement pad, which, I’m having difficulty finding. Who has/sells them? It’s something to consider as this sander unit generally retails around $100 while replacement pads seem to be around $30 each. Over the life of this sander, this cost adds up!

Makes sanding quicker than other Sanders. 6 inch sanding discs are not common so I order online because they’re too expensive otherwise. I would highly recommend this sander. It’s lightweight, works great, and gets the job done.

i have owneed the bosch equivalent sander for years. I got this sander because the bosch finally died. I used this sander the same as my bosch and within 1 hour the backing pad has fallen off. The bosch hook and loop pad is still holding on after 1000’s of hours of use.Ridgid has made a great sander but they need to fix the hook and loop pad its garbage. I have ordered two more, perhaps i can get a bosch one to fit instead?Buyers beware.

While the sander is a very good device. The lack of supplies at Home Depot makes it not worthy of a 5 star recommendation.The local stores do not carry a good variety of grits, they have to be special ordered. This can delay finishing a project by days. I ordered an assortment of grits on Feb. 11, and still have not received them. Had to source the paper elsewhere.This is my reason for not recommending this product.

Got the job done in shorter time than a 5 inch sander. Sturdy and has some weight to it so you don’t have to apply to much pressure when sanding. Great for the price as well.

I really like this sander, but the durability of it just seems to be lacking. It’s a great overall value for a casual DIY’er to even a entry level professional. However, I’ve had issues with the pad a couple of times (replaced the bearing assembly once) and the way that it attaches to the bearing assembly. The screws work themselves loose (even with using a little bit of blue threadlocker) and eventually oval out the threading on the bearing assembly. I really want to love this sander and give it a 5-star review, but having to replace the bearing assembly twice now, I just cant.
