The RIDGID 6 in. Variable-Speed Dual Random Orbit Sander features electronic variable speed control of 4000 OPM to 10,000 OPM (no load speeds) to maintain constant speed and power under load applications. Its soft-start motor gradually increases the speed of the sander to provide an even finish. Its onboard vacuum adaptor fits standard 1-1/4 in. or 2-1/2 in. hoses for a cleaner, virtually dust-free work environment.

Requires virtually no assembly. Slightly heavy BUT it seems to be just the right amount of pressure to the work. No extra pressure should be applied! Have sanded down some drywall and tongue and groove pine. Disks seem to stay attaches well and great results with minimal effort. I have bought numerous Rigid tools/ vacuums and have been pleased- warranty can’t be beat although this most recent purchase I am waiting for the confirmation of it. Don’t understand that.

I got one for my job when I was working as a carpenter. I pick this model because the other ones I used didn’t have enough power or dust control. Used it almost daily for several years The hose from my commercial vac could be plugged into the back if the dust bag was removed, making it dust free. Only complaints are it’s a little long to get in tight areas and the switch eventually went on it. But that didn’t stop me from buying one with my own money when I needed one for projects around the house. I figured the switch would last a lifetime when only being used for household tasks.

Works great and is better than the porter cable sander (the 6 “ one that looks like an angle grinder), but seems to bog down more but, is easier to handle and has good dust collection. Was able to sand in a small shed without the need of a dust mask. The only problem I have is the hook and loop backing pad came off with the first pad change and had to exchange it. Hoping this one holds up better.

Great Sander, but the Velcro pad is completely defective. I bought two new pads from a competitors sander and they have withstood the abuse that the ridgid Velcro pads could not take. they have an issue with the pad. Great value ONCE you replace the factory pad IMO.

Worked incredibly well for several days but after changing the 7th abrasive disc, the sanding hook/loop pad adhesive failed and it detached from the unit.. major flaw that stopped production and missed delivery on a rush job for the holidays. Probly wont buy again if the parts fail so quickly.. id have maybe expected this after 100 or more discs..
