I have other Routers. I Primarily bought this one to use to flatten Wood surfaces on items that are too large to fit thru my planer. Lots of power. Quiter than my older ones. I do like that it comes with the Plunge attachment. I like the handles. Very sturdy.

Only used on two projects. Not a greatly experience user of routers. Great upgrade over my fixed base 40yr old 1HP Craftsman. Have not used as a plunge router. Primary use for dovetails and rabbets. Powerful, easy start unit. Easy to use. Takes a little learning curve on setting height adjustments. The quick release and movement of the retainer is nice but is not smooth. Mechanism introduces a bit of lash (slack) that you have to watch. That is the major design difference between my old router and this one. Really like the see thru base plate and lights that help you see the work surface.

I’m very pleased with the performance of both the fixed base and plunge capabilities of this router. It has easy depth adjustment, good dust collection and price, and Ridgid’s lifetime guarantee. My favorite thing is the easily accessible table adjustment nut (but why a PLASTIC wrench?).
