Follow assembly directions closely step by step. Assembly is time consuming.

Getting the saw ready, to my standards, has been a challenge so far.I don’t expect ANY saw to be ‘ready to use’ from purchase, I’m listing the issues I encountered.Assembly and Use instructions bookletIt starts off talking about assembly, but doesn’t finish the job before it starts discussing other ‘non setup’ stuff, and then comes back to assembly… Very odd and a bit frustrating. The print was also really close to the spine – having to ‘break’ the spine just to read the print hurts my reader’s soul.Grease/OilThere was an abundance of oil. Have rags handy. And some paper towels. Also have some orange hand cleaner – some of the grease is pernicious. Better too oily than not I suppose – even though there was still a couple small spots of rust on the top. This isn’t a “bad item” btw – just giving you warning, iron needs to be oiled or otherwise protected from rust, especially during shipping.Dust collection portThe dust collection is a 4″ port. Home Depot sells no vac attachment to help convert to the normal 2″ fittings that work with the RIDGID shop vacs on their shelves (or in my garage and shed). Thankfully I still have a 90′ elbow from when HD *used* to sell these from their shelves, and then a ~$10 4″ to 2″ rubber plumbing gasket did the job. It started loose on both the 4″ port on the saw and the female end of the 2″ elbow – but being rubber with screw hose clamps those got sealed up. Since you cannot buy that 90′ elbow, I don’t know what to tell ya. Good luck.Blade to Miter AlignmentThe instructions to align blade to miter slot only talk about loosening the rear trunnion bolts, but the movement I needed to make to align the blade required moving it further than the slots on the rear trunnion allowed – already maxed out that direction. I’ve done this kind of task before so I dived in: loosened the front ones – the one above the motor requires either sheer luck or a mirror to locate with my 10″ socket extension. I’ve now got that dialed into .003″ – back edge of blade is further from the fence – my fence will almost always sit on the right side of blade, having the blade a tad further from the fence on the back side helps avoid kickback.Throat plate not flatThe throat plate has a think coat of paint on it which wasn’t even nor was the aluminum underneath that paint to be honest. Sandpaper, a flat board (MDF does have some uses), and patience have won the day here. But seriously, THIS was the first disappointment.Miter guageThe miter guage pivot screw was stuck. Spun out phillips head just one gear/notch, so beared down and moved forward even more carefully. Nope – fully stripped. First time I use a bit extraction set w/ success at least! I put a notch into the head, and the rest proceeded as expected. I don’t know who put that screw in, or what grease/lube/locktite the used – but it wasn’t gonna move.I have powered the saw on only three times – before I put wood on the iron, I’m going to give it a thorough cleaning, wax the top, and then start it on verifying all my measurements with actual cuts. The motor and blade sounded fine, and the brake worked – no longer siting around for 30s waiting for a motor hanging off the back of my old saw to finish spinning to tweak the fence. This motor is higher rated, but I know it’s still not ‘cabinet’ or ‘220v’ powerful, I don’t expect it to do dados like it’s no thing. If I can update this later, and I find I have more to add, I will.

Had to return the first unit due to not being able to raise and lower blade. This was not noticed until assembly was 60% complete per instructions. Had to disassemble unit and repackage, it is approx. 300 lbs and was not easy to load and unload. Second unit was fine and works well.

I suspect most of the negative reviews are due to user errors because this is an excellent piece of equipment. Quite and powerful. Yes, assemble takes some time and you will need help positioning the heavy cast iron top. There are some slight alignment issues with holes and fasteners due to typical material distortion but nothing a little diligence and instruction understanding will not overcome. Love thing thing!!!!!

Great Value for Price – Everything works as most reviews have shared – Motor is quiet, Roller make it easy to move around. Only improvement they can make at this price point would be the fence. But again reviews shared what I was buying very accurately. Super happy – Future upgrades replace fence, and side tables.

Great saw I wish the instructions were better for the assembly since that took me 4 hrs to do including leveling the top

Instructions were missing a few key notes but I figured it out and it is working fine

Very strong motor gear upgrade from job site saw

This saw is an awesome purchase. I love everything about it. Only issue I had was installing the caster assembly and taking the back cover off to remove the styrofoam inside from shipping. The screws were so tight they started stripping and I could not remover them. So I had to take it out via small pieces from underneath. It was a royal pain. The legs are not easy to put together either. But overall the saw is incredible. An awesome purchase for DIY’er or woodworking.

the assembly instructions were complete, thorough and, after some studying, easy to follow, and a very impressive engineering design!

upon assembled, I noticed that the riving knife would not align. so I called the customer service department after I had registered this saw. they said all power tools are required to go through a service company that is contracted with Home Depot. they gave me the number to call. I did an I was taken care of quickly. so anyone who says customer service at the store can’t help. yes it’s true, so you must register your tool so when you have a problem you call the certified service dealer.

The overall assembly went well and I thought the instructions were good. You need to read all the details well. The saw is quiet and smooth. The power is adequate for my needs. The fence and rails work well for this price of saw. The only negative so far is the ability to get a true 90 deg on the blade. As the table is not flat because of the saw being bolted to the top and that causes it to dip in the middle. I did read of this issue before buying and it appears to be an issue on all brands at this price level. I would rate it at about a 4.5 star if that was available. This is a nice saw for this price point.

Very nice saw! The fence and blade are “right on.” I would have preferred cast iron table extensions over the metal but the metal works fine. Assembly instructions leave a lot to be desired.
