We own about a dozen different drills for many different applications, from many different manufactures. Rigid produces a great drill. We have some very large 12×12 inch timbers in our Victorian house. This drill powers an auger bit right thru them without issue. This is needed for some of the re-wire I am performing on the house. I have only tested the hammer feature thus far. But it cut a nice 1 inch hole without issue thru 4 inches of solid concrete in only about 4 minutes. One of the bits I am using is a 36 inch long, 3/4 inch auger bit. This allows room for 2 pieces of MC electrical wire to pass thru the 12×12 timber. This wood is over 130 years old, very hard and dry now. This drill powers thru with no problem what so ever. I first tried using a Rigid battery drill, it did ok, but with so many holes to cut, recharging the batteries slowed the process. That is why I purchased this corded drill. So far, I am very happy and impressed with the performance. I knew it would be fine before I purchased it. It is a Rigid.

I’ve been using battery-powered drills for many, many years but have recently lost confidence in the reliability of the batteries (even the ones with lifetime warranties). I bought the Ridgid 8.5 amp drill and rediscovered the power that only an electric tool can deliver. I first used the drill to auger through two 4x4s (building a small barn on our land) and the drill went through those so fast I couldn’t believe it. This is one strong drill! Of course, I’ll still use my battery-powered drills for certain applications, but when I need power with speed, I’ll go to the Ridgid 8.5 drill. Love it.

I recently bought a Ridgid R5011 1/2″ hammer drill at The Home Depot. It costs $119.00 plus tax retail price. I bought it mainly to drill holes in masonry walls and it has been working as designed. I used it to drill several holes during a small home project and I was satisfied with it’s performance. And I could have bought any other brand, as there are several different brands that sell a similar drill but I chose Ridgid mainly due to the limited lifetime warranty that they offer.

Made drilling holes in concrete a breeze.

I gave this an average score due to the job I had. This did not cut through the 9 inches of concrete, so I had to rent a jack hammer for 4 hours from Home Depot causing me to spend more money.

I’m a 58-year-old woman and I started out with a regular 1/2 inch drill on a rock project. My hands and arms were killing me until my neighbor suggested I get a hammer drill. This hammer drill is awesome!! It went through rock in less than 10 minutes. You would think that because it’s a hammer drill it would do wear and tear on your hands and your shoulders but I had no problem, it’s not heavy at all. There’s no end to the DIY crafts that can be done with this hammer drill. I highly recommend it to everybody!

Installing concrete and block anchors for hurricane shutters with my 18v DeWalt Hammer drill worked but was slow going and drained my two batteries before finishing first window. This did the job quickly and didn’t break the bank.

not as good as the drill it replaced, no torque setting or speed dial. like the keyed chuck much better than my r5010. replaced the chuck on that drill with a keyed chuck and I am still using it ten years later. but I really like this new drill, and hope it last as long as the last one.

This drill can mix cement in about 10 seconds with the correct amount of water in the bucket. I went from a 10amp drill to this and I really can’t tell the difference. However, before the 10amp drill I bought a 6.5amp drill by mistake and it did not have enough power to mix anything.
