The RIDGID Heavy-Duty 6.5 Amp VSR Drywall Screwdriver has helical-cut, hardened steel gears for longevity and job site durability. With the variable-speed, reversible switch, you can select your ideal driving speed. Once you’ve established that, you can use the lock-on button for continuous driving.

I bought this primarily to complete my deck with composite deck boards. I’ve completed a 16×16 foot section of the deck (only about half the total size), which used about 750 screws, and it has performed perfectly. Every single one of the screws is set to the perfect depth, it would have taken me 3 times as long to do this with my impact driver and they still wouldn’t have been as consistent. If you are doing a project like this it would be foolish not to have one of these, especially for $60.

Had a yellow and black model 257. It performed well but someone liked it and needed it more than I did – stolen! Since I am a Ridgid guy and bleed orange and black, I gave this a shot. Powerful, well balanced and easy to use. Did run into some of the same issues as several of the previous reviewers did, but was smarter and just replaced the bit with a new hardened one – viola! Instant awesome tool! Never underestimate a tool until you investigate the bit or blade is my motto from now on. And even some of the other brands out there have gone to bags instead of cases. Besides, I’ve never seen a drywall gun offered with either.
