The tool is actually fine I’m sure, but I purchased this because the web order I order of a Dewalt version took almost a month to come in, so I bought this a temporary solution, but upon opening it, someone else had already returned it and it was clear that it was used and just put back on the shelf for resale. Now I have to return it and luckily my Dewalt version finally came in. Not the tools fault, but overall problem with the HD that I frequent.

This tool worked and uses the same batteries as most of my hand tools.

Charges quickly, holds good charge for quite a while. The LEDs on this battery aid in knowing how much charge remains. I like this, and consider it an upgrade from my previous batteries without the LEDs built in.

This is a good tool. The lack of an on board storage for the wrench, and lack ofdust management brought down the score for me. Tackling a drywall project is a task that produces a lot of dust, and dust management seems to be a major safety push the past couples of year. I would have loved to see an attachment or feature that reduces that amount of dust produced. To me best features are: the depth adjustment guide, which is easy to use, and the volume of the tool. It is a lot quieter than my other speed saws, when it ia on but not in contact with the work surface the sound was about 70db when I measured it.. I used this cut out tool on 1/2″ thick drywall, and it cut just fine. This has an LED and it shuts off, soon as the saw ahuts down, 2 seconds or so after you turn it off. To adjust the depth, simple raise the Lever and raise, lower, or remove the guard. This comes with a 1/4″ and a 1/8″ collet as well as 2 bits. The handle is comfortable ,to me. On the side of the tool where the name is I feel that an onboard storage could have been placed there for the wrench to adjust the collet nut. Speaking of which, the spindle lock was easy ro use and worked as expected.

Ridgid R84730B 18 Volt Drywall Cut -Out Tool – As with most Ridgid 18 volt Tools, this is the item number for a bare tool, (No battery or Charger) included…This tool is fairly new to the Ridgid 18 volt line of tools…This drywall cur-out tools offers the same features as other manufactures of cordless drywall cur-out tools…The most impressive feature is the warranty, Ridgid indicates this is a “No Hassel” warranty for three (3) years the tool will be replaced or repaired…If this tool is registered with Ridgid Power Tools within 90 days after purchase the tool qualifies for the “LSA” Lifetime Service Agreement, meaning Ridgid will replace any part of the tool that is defective or broken…I was informed the only batteries that qualify for the Lifetime Service Agreement are batteries that are included with a tool or batteries that are purchased with a charger, commonly called a starter kit…Single batteries purchased in plastic clam shell package, are only covered for the initial warranty period…So, if you have other Ridgid 18 volt tools and this is the tool platform you intend to keep using, always purchase tools that include batteries as a means of obtaining additional batteries…Individual batteries will cost at least $50.00, a ½” driver drill, charger and (1) or (2) batteries will cost about $159.00…That means the “LSA” will apply to the batteries and charger…I tested this tool cutting ½” and 5/8” drywall, I didn’t have the opportunity to cut cement board…The tool performed as indicated, intended and expected without any problems and equal to all other drywall cut-out tools manufactured…The pro or con to purchase this tool would be the brand of the tools and battery platform already owned and used every day…That said if I owned numerous Ridgid 18 volt tools, I would not hesitate to purchase this Drywall Cut-Out Tool…

This Ridgid drywall cut out tool is just what you need in your toolbox. The 28,000 RPM motor and 18 volt battery have more than enough power to get the job done. Perfect for cutting out electric outlets. The tool only weighs 1.9 pounds so your hands don’t get tired and the rubber grips keep it from slipping in your hands . The Lifetime Free Parts and Free Service make it a no brainer for buying Ridgid tools. I own several and have never had a problem since they are very dependable. I highly recommend this one.

The Lithium batteries have a tremendous work life. They far outlast my old NiCad batteries. I would recommend that everyone has an extra battery.

YOU ARE NOW ABLE TO TAKE YOUR BATTERIES TO HOME DEPOT FOR AN EXCHANGE UNDER THE LSA. IF THEY DON’T HAVE YOUR REPLACEMENT IN STOCK, RIDGID WILL DROP SHIP A NEW ONE TO YOUR HOUSE!So I bought a drill with two batteries, one skinny & one fat (1,400mAh & 3,000 mAh, respectively). They both went bad after about two years of intermediate use, but that’s no surprise. I took them to the service center and waited 6 weeks for the new ones. I received a follow up call from Ridgid to ask if i was happy with the service center; I said sure, except I waited 6 weeks for them. The representative responded, we shipped your replacement batteries to the repair center 5 days after you dropped them off. In short, it took me calling the service center 5x before they found it.When I was ‘discussing’ the situation, the representative said Ridgid and HD now allow you to do the exchange IN THE STORE. just take it to the tool service / rentals desk and they will take care of you…no more waiting months to get your batteries back, making the LSA actually worth while!!!!
