Bummed that the new one handed recip came with a promo coupon for a free 3ah Octane battery when purchased in store but no promo coupon for the planer?! All in all the Ridgid platform has some great tools that will hold it’s own against the competition! Not to mention with the best warranty that is offered!

RIDGID….18 volt octane Cordless Brushless 31/4″Hand Planer I purchased this planer as a (Tool Only) Since I already had a couple of 6Ah Batteries on hand. Well this planer is going to take some getting use to. It is light weight, compact, powerful and is very easy to operate with some practice. It can be adjusted from 1/64th to 5/64 for Planing and from 1/32 to 5/32 to chamfer an edge and the Kickstand is a cool feature it pivots automatically when you set the planer down. I don’t think I would be using this planer daily but when I do need it it will come in very handy This is a well engineered tool and works with any Ridgid 18 volt battery

I had always used a hand planer for fitting doors but I had a door fit issue that needed a lot of work to get it right so I invested in this tool, which so far has done a great job. It plows through work that would have taken me a long time with a hand planer. Love that I can buy the tool without the battery and charger (which I already have).

I would give it 5 stars, but it does over heat. I had to stop several times to let it cool down, bu tI was doing a big job. I was in a shaded garage in about 80 degree weather. It does suck down the batteries, but that is to be expected.

Huge difference from the old one the first thing I was pleased with they did away with stupid blades they had on the other one,no longer be bought. The new version has reversable blades and are easily purchased from Ridgid for 3 bucks a set I bought a dozen and belts to so l won’t be stuck again!
