RIDGID….18 volt octane Cordless Brushless 31/4″Hand Planer I purchased this planer as a (Tool Only) Since I already had a couple of 6Ah Batteries on hand. Well this planer is going to take some getting use to. It is light weight, compact, powerful and is very easy to operate with some practice. It can be adjusted from 1/64th to 5/64 for Planing and from 1/32 to 5/32 to chamfer an edge and the Kickstand is a cool feature it pivots automatically when you set the planer down. I don’t think I would be using this planer daily but when I do need it it will come in very handy This is a well engineered tool and works with any Ridgid 18 volt battery

Exceeded expectations. This little planer is lightweight and powerful. I am surprised by how precise this is and how easily it removes even old hard wood. Have used it multiple times on doors for trimming and it saves so much time and effort. Easy to maneuver and I love having no cord. This is a great addition to the 18V Octane line.

This power planer is excellent in general, and the ability to dial in the planing depth by less than 1/128 inch makes it very adaptable to your project. The only shortcoming is that the collection bags fills very quickly when planing deep, but then a large bag on this smaller tool would probably just be in the way. Ridgid is making some solid “pro-sumer” cordless 18V tools and Home Depot is setting up great deals to purchase them.
