Great little handheld router that packs a punch. I’m a CNC operator by trade and I have to route wooden parts out all the time daily. This router packs a punch for those who need it. I’ve had it for about a month now, and it’s been great. I bought the 3 Ah 2 pack to go with this and about 1 battery gets me through two sheets of constant routing, sometimes stretched to 4. (It depends on how thick the material is left)Overall, for anyone in the cabinet making industry, this is a MUST HAVE. Cords get in the way daily, and I imagine I put it through some stress, so anyone who uses it for laminating cabinets could probably go all day with it just fine on one batteyr.

This new Octane router has more power then its predecessor. I love the extra power to make a routed edge with one pass. Just like its older brother Ridgid kept the micro adjustment dial and the adjustable speed dial. One great added future is the vacuum dust port, this is a great added feature that saves time and money around clean up. I love the portability and the performance of this tool.

So far, I’ve used my router once, to cut an ogee trim around a 24″ x 15″ base for a bookcase I’m building. For me, it is very comfortable to use. I used the 3ah Octane battery. Not too heavy and balanced just fine. It did the job well. You have to pay attention to your feed rate vs the motor speed. Push it too hard and it will stop, but that’s not out of the ordinary. I used my Ridgid 12hp shop vac for dust collection. It was a little tricky figuring out how to swap the chip shield for the dust chute. The directions don’t give you any instruction on that. To get the most out of the dust collection, you must have the router turned such that the dust chute is pointing in the direction you’re cutting. Go around a corner and keep the router in the same position and the shavings will come out the side and not towards the dust chute. Otherwise, the dust collection was adequate. I’ve seen reviews where people aren’t happy with the power switch, but it certainly prevents any unwanted starts. Having to pull on it to start means no accidental bump or push is going to start the motor. I think it’s a nice safety feature. All in all, I like the router and I’m looking forward to using it on many future projects.
