RIDGID introduces the 18-Volt OCTANE Cordless Brushless 3-Speed 1/4 Sheet Sander with 18-Volt 2.0 Ah Lithium-Ion Battery and Charger Kit. The 18-Volt OCTANE Brushless Sheet Sander delivers incredible performance in a cordless package. Pair with an OCTANE battery for up to 14,000 RPM to clear material with speed. Engineered at optimal levels, easily change between high, medium, and slow speed settings with a digital selector. AIRGUARD Technology allows for up to 90% of dust collection as well. An added front grip guard will protect your fingers from sliding down and touching the base of the sanding pad for a more comfortable experience and optimal control. OCTANE tools utilize high performance brushless motors for increased performance. State of the art OCTANE electronics are built to handle maximum power from OCTANE batteries. The 18-Volt Charger features Rapid Charge Time, Smart Charging, Cold/Hot Warning, and Energy Save Mode. The 2 Ah battery gives users prolonged run time and more charges over its lifetime compared to standard lithium-ion batteries. With registration, this kit is backed by the Industry’s Only Lifetime Service Agreement. The 18-Volt OCTANE 1/4 Sheet Sander includes a hose adaptor, dust collection bag, an assortment of sandpaper, a 2.0 Ah Battery, an 18-Volt Charger, and an operator’s manual.

The battery charger and battery purchase was one of my best experiences at the Home Depot, Worcester, however purchasing Rigid Tools has proven to be one of the biggest mistakes of my life. My first purchase was a driver drill. charger and two batteries. When both of the batteries became defective I brought them to Rotti Power Equipment in West Boylston. MA.. the authorized Rigid Repair Service. The replacement seemed to go without a hitch, that is untill one of the replacement batteries went defective. When I picked up the replacement batteries Mr. Rotti told me thay were all registered as he had to send Rigid the s/ns of the defective batteries and the s/ns of the new replacement batteries and the Rigid system automatically registered the new batteries. So now I am sitting here with a defective battery and a defective charger and Rigid refuses to get back to me on this issue. They appear to lie very well about their lifetime warrenty.

The Ridgid charger and battery pack (2Ah) is about $100 at Home Depot. I use it with my Ridgid portable vacuum and holds a charge long enough to vacuum my midsize SUV. It is quick to recharge and takes very little storage room.
