This is a awesome sander if you want to do a small or medium sized job. IT is more powerful than I expected after reading some other reviews. If you are looking for a grinder this is not the tool but it is a great portable sander It has all the features of a corded model (smaller belts of course ) and seams to be built extremely well. The weight is in between a heavy duty corded sander and a lightweight corded sander my inexpensive lightweight corded sander has about the same power and of course it will run all day But I often need a tool that is easier to use without running cords and this is perfect. I take several of my Ridgid cordless tools to a job when Im in the finishing stages of a job because I know they will work when I need them and thease new brushless motors will run longer.

I think this battery powered belt sander is awesome. It is great that you can just put a battery in and get the job done, no it wont run all day on a battery but who would expect that. It does exactly what it was designed for.

Not having to mess with a cordis huge and the variable speed with this tool is a must have. You will not go wrong with this belt sander.

great little sander for small jobs, we are doing a 12 by 17 deck with rough cut pine.battery runs out pretty quick on those boards, but on the rough cut hand rails which are 1×4 its awesome on those.would recommend as long as you realize your not getting a industrial sander lol.

When I purchased the RIDGID 18-Volt GEN5X Cordless Brushless 3 in. x 18 in. Belt Sander I was really happy with how it performed. The first thing I tried sanding was a door panel for my kitchen cupboard I tried using one of my smaller batteries the 2ah and sadly it lasted only 15+ min. Later on I tried my 9ah instead and finished the rest of the panel with no issues yet. Battery if only on 3/4 of a charge still so thinking a larger battery is the best option. Very happy with the sander or sand paper on it not walking or moving while putting pressure on it. It stayed the same way or spot I started with I would recommend this for anyone with a project like myself.
