The location of the front knob in relation to the guard makes it difficult, if not impossible, to make a plunge cut because you can’t hold the front knob and retract the blade guard at the same time. My other circular saws have the front knob directly in front of the motor which allows you to use your left hand to both hold the saw and retract the blade guard. This saw has the knob on the far left side and you can’t do both at the same time. Another thing I don’t like about this saw are the safety buttons. I don’t think they are needed because the trigger is sufficient. They get in the way because you have to use both your index finger and thumb to operate the saw. This is awkward when making a cut while using your non-dominant hand.In short, this saw will see minimal use in my shop.

While I haven’t used this extensively, it has met my needs and came with everything I needed without a lot of extra items that I don’t. I run mostly RIDGID products so I didn’t need extra batteries and I’m sure this would need them for a larger project. I like the feel of the tool in my hand and it has a good durable look and feel to it, I believe this will work excellently when my work is away from an outlet. I also like the fact that it uses 7-1/4″ blades.
