No light weight here. Feels and cuts like a good corded saw. If I need a tool and Rigid makes, that’s what I buy.

This is a nice saw for the average homeowner. It is sufficiently powerful to perform as advertised. You need to understand going in that ripping dimensional lumber eats batteries. This is a trade off of the brute force of a corded saw for the lighter weight and portability of a battery powered saw. Make no mistake, this saw with the 4Ah battery is sufficiently powerful to do most project work efficiently. This saw is well designed and has good safety features. I do not recommend ever making adjustments to a battery powered saw without first removing the battery. Ridgid’s battery design and attachment system works easily and securely. The ambidextrous trigger lock takes some getting used to. It’s design pretty well precludes accidentally triggering it though.Yes, the blade guard is plastic. It’s also pretty robust and unless you’re tossing this saw around, you don’t have any worry about the blade guard. The settings and increments are accurate and the depth lock sets solid.I would go five stars but this saw has the worst sole plate I’ve ever seen. I’m not a builder, but I’ve used circular saws a lot as I do enjoy working in wood. They need to think their way through this sole plate as what they’re doing now detracts from an otherwise really good saw and contributes to control hazards. It takes a while (I spent an hour) working with diamond abrasives to get it so the sole plate doesn’t catch and drag. Once I solved that, this turned out to be an excellent and very easy saw to use. Understand going in that this is a deceptively powerful and fairly light saw. Get real well acquainted before you start making demands on it. Like any saw, it can work for you or it can hurt you. It’s well designed with good safety features AND it spins a really sharp blade at high speeds.

No need for those awful cords stringing all over! Powerful and works great! I would definitely recommend!!

Excellent addition to my Ridgid cordless collection. Balanced accurate and powerful. Takes a little getting used to the safety features that prevent starting it with the blade guard open but you learn quickly. They could have included the guide instead of selling it as an accessory.

This saw is a good upgrade for durability over the 6 1/4″ model but its heavy. It has a good deal of Big Saw capability but the two handed-Blade on the Right is a real problem. They designed a peak through hole to follow the blade on the line but its overly cumbersome and having the blade on the Rt side is additionally problematic for making nip cuts(short corrections).I respect the idea in the knob handle but Stupid appendage! I have run corded Worm Drive saws for 40 years and never use two hands. The counter to all other brand blade position is well suited to Lefties or those that use a saw on weekends. The 6 1/4″ is a better saw albeit not brushless or ‘Octane’The table is prone to bending but its speed, and cut capacity out do the difficulty of a Saw built inverse to the standard.I run a hundred Ridgid tools in my outfit among 4 guys but this is a disappointment in that aspect. Power is good. Construction is solid, Battery life is reasonable, Warranty is top but its backwards in design…for this reason, BEWARE.. Bottom line? I usually buy 4 of every purchase but I will not outfit this saw in my company.
