The new RIDGID GEN5X 18-Volt Flexible Dual-Mode LED Work Light provides multiple lighting options for the workplace. The flexible neck secures the light on a variety of surfaces to provide optimal lighting. This light also features a dual mode setting to switch from spot lighting to area lighting depending on need and provide 170 Lumens. With the new lifetime LED there is no need to change the light bulb for the lifetime of the tool. the flexible part doesn’t hold up the light and a 4ah battery is not heavy enough to hold the light up. I have had the light less than 1 week (here is a video link https://photos.app.goo.gl/GRbSgSnEPnkAMVSz5) Luckily the light did not break!

Very good illumination with each position of the light. The spot-light position throws off a well-focused beam with no dark spots for nearly 300-feet. Excellent! Easy to adjust the housing for optimal positioning with the flexible “goose neck” handle. Quiet on-off switch. It’s better to use a “heavier” battery, i.e. 3.0Ah, 4.0Ah or 5.0Ah, to keep the light weighed down when not holding on to it.

I love this light! I bought it earlier today and it is my favorite light source I’ve bought. I’m set with batteries since I got the hammer drill, and the 2 Ah one works great. I’m working on replacing some vanity lights in a couple bathrooms and I had to kill the circuit to work on, so I took this and hung it over the shower curtain bar and it is perfect for this. Almost went with the $20 light, but decided to spend the extra $10 on this, and I’m happy it did. My grandpa had one of the original Black and Decker snake lights from the 90s and it was neat, but it requires you to go buy C-cell batteries, which I didn’t want to bother with, plus it had an old bulb which was close to needing replacement.

I am building an HO scale model railroad. I have been under it, soldering wires over my head for a while. Lighting has always been an issue with my old eyes. This light is like a miracle for this work. Set it up on the floor and have all the light I could want. I will also use it for working on rolling stock and buildings on the bench as I am sure it will be great for that also. I have Ridgid tools so have three of the big 4.0 batteries already. The heavy battery works well in this and lasts a very long time.

It is nice to have two types of light to work with. seems to be durable. the wide angled work light is ok for close up work but a little dim to illuminate much of a room. the spot works better as it directs a beam of light to a work area. However it could still be a little brighter.

Good light, not overly bright….but I’m happy with it. Balance isn’t that bad with 4 amp, you just need to balance it over the battery.

This is a great light. I took a battery with me to the store to try it. I liked the rotating lense but in the daytime it’s hard to tell how bright it is. After getting it, I tried it at home early in the morning while it was still dark and I was very impressed. I look forward to using it.
