Drill seems to be well made and is very powerful. Excellent at this time. Of course as with anything, only time will tell if it holds up.

It works great! Just as I hoped.

First impression: The trigger spring is MUCH TOO STIFF! There is absolutely no need for the spring to be this strong. What’s the point of an electric caulk gun if the trigger is as hard to pull as a manual one!

I already have a RIDGID vacuum that I have enjoyed for many years. I purchased this RIDGID 18-Volt Brushless SubCompact Cordless 1/2 in. Drill Driver Kit with (2) 2.0 Ah Batteries, Charger and Bag last month mainly because of the Lifetime Warranty. Now that I have used it, I love the compact size, the placement of the light and how the light stays on a little longer after you let go of the trigger. This tool is a workhorse! It has plenty of power, it is perfectly balanced, lightweight and easy to handle. I purchased this as a backup and/or drill so I would not have to take time to change bits from drilling to screwing and finish my projects quicker. I use the screwing more than I do drilling. Now this RIDGID tool is my go-to tool that I use for screwing and my other brand driver is used for drilling. The only CON I have is that I wish the bag had dividers to separate the tool from the extra battery, charger and extra bits. I will make some myself. I always keep my tools in the bag they came in; because, I like to keep my stuff clean and new looking. I am afraid the lack of dividers will scratch the tool and accessories. I am sure I will be buying more RIDGID tools in the future! Because of its lightweight, size and bright light, this Drill Driver Kit exceeded my expectations.

When I needed one of these this one didn’t yet exist so I purchased the Ryobi one which worked fine but didn’t quite go slow enough and sadly used different batteries. This seems to have solved all the complaints I had about that one. First off it’s Ridgid so I have tons of batteries, secondly it goes slower and lastly they made the trigger variable speed, all really significant improvements in my mind. If you need to caulk a lot or just want really even caulk lines, an en electric caulk gun is a good thing. I needed to caulk all around the floor of our building before I put down the epoxy floor, a few hundred linear feet, sadly I didn’t yet have the Ridgid gun, but definitely get a powered gun if you caulk a lot. And this is the best one I’ve seen so far. Out of the two I’ve seen.

Like every tool, it takes a while to get used to its operation. The caulk gun was easy to use right out of the box. It is also easy to clean any caulk that may have gotten on the tool. The only issue I had was the delay in having the caulk come out of the gun when I stopped and restarted. It seemed like an eternity when you are holding the gun and waiting for the caulk to come out. It takes 5 to 10 seconds when it should be instantaneous.

Best caulk gun around. I have tried several power caulk guns. This one out performs them all by far. Not only is the batteries interchangeable with all my rigid tools, but it has the power to run sand caulk grout all day long.

I am a Rigid fan – good value, the warranty is hard to argue with, and HD has stuck with their current battery style for along time. Kudos for that. This unit is less than the performance I would expect because of the Anti Drip feature and overload behavior. Here is why:Anti Drip is a nice idea, but this tool just releases all pressure instantaneously. If your material is thick and needs a lot of pressure and you release, it pops back a long way. You then have to wait for the ram to get back to the piston in the tube, then for it to build pressure. If you are using a low flow rate setting, this is a LONG time. It should be damped so that it releases pressure but only retracts far enough to do so – no further.I tried putting the speed control on max to get the ram back in place faster, but I needed a low flow rate and once pressure returned, it was hard to control. On overload – again pushing a thick material – it shuts off without warning instead of maintaining max pressure or letting you know so you can back off on the trigger before it shuts off. The ram pops back and you have to wait, just like the Anti Drip feature above.Other features are the usual high quality – easy to control trigger, speed adjustment range worked well. It is quite powerful and pushed thick silicone without issue.Overall – OK value as I did not have to buy a battery. I have not had the opportunity to use comparable tools from Dewalt or Milwaukee, so not sure how this works vs. others. Maybe this one is actually the best!So – if you already own Rigid and you do not want to buy a battery, I would give it a shot. There is a 90 Day satisfaction guarantee…

I own several Rigid 18v tools and am pleased with all of them. The little drill driver is no exception.

Great tool, can shoot well over 100 tubes on 1 charge, and yes I have shot that many and more – A must have in you do alot of caulking, in fact if you have to shoot 100’s of tubes it will pay for itself just by avoiding the messy drips common to all manual guns when you stop. This is because it backs off pressure when you release the trigger and the flow instantly stops. The price you pay for that is it takes a couple seconds to resume flow once you stop, but thats a tradeoff well worth it, and the flow would not be instant with a manual gun either.Speed adjustment is nice, trigger is also pressure sensitive ,,, So getting a great bead is a combo of tool speed, your own speed, and the size of your slice in the tube head.Saves your finger obviously, once you get in the grove you can lay perfect beads every time ,,, Just got done with a job where we had to caulk 100’s of windows high and low, my buddy started out complaining how much he hates to caulk, after using this he said he actually likes it now.Does have limits like any tool, if you are using a high viscosity caulk and/or the temps get low, the tool will balk and stop flowing, just depress the trigger again and resume. Its a self defense mechanism, when it reaches it limits you’ll hear and feel a click then it stops then you can quickly resume. Rarely ever happens when its warm [above 50 f], gets progressively worse as it gets colder – And obviously, you would have problems with manual tools as well in these conditions.2 things I think can be improved, the piercing rod swings out with the greatest of ease, should have some plastic to snap into so it doesn’t travel on its own – I have tried bending it this way and that and still it moves by itself, often interfering with the job. Another is the plunger, like any tool it needs to be cleaned ,,, The back of it has plastic ridges making it difficult to impossible to remove caulk, I’m thinking it should have been designed with a dome with a square hole for screw attachment – I have tried soaking it in alcohol and vinegar, neither are effective, am leery of trying anything really strong like xylene as its likely to warp or destroy the plunger itself along with the caulk.

Works great. No more squeezing of a handle to get caulking to flow. Also no more messes as this caulking gun releases pressure on the tube automatically so caulking stops coming out as soon as you release the trigger.
Benedict Spinka (verified owner) –
Very nice and very smooth, this device really ups the game in caulking and allows for a very smooth no need to touch bead of caulk. No matter the length of the bead it is the same with no release to get another grip with the handle.

The only thing I would like changed about the gun. Is every time you let go of the trigger. It releases it’s self to the point where you have to push it back in by hand otherwise it will take you 40 seconds to get it to work again.
Ethel Kemmer (verified owner) –
Overall if you have a lot of cocking to do this is the way to go. There was a few issues I believe what the design that could definitely make it easier on operator. The trigger should be very easy to pull and keep down. Possibly spring will ease up in the future. Second it should have a device that keeps pressure on the tube so that when you let up on the trigger it will go right back where you were when you let go. Because when you let up on the trigger you have to wait for it to start coming out again which seems to throw off the timing as you’re using the device. Not as noticeable when an higher rates but so much of the time cocking is a very precise finishing touch the lower rates are going to be more commonly used which seem to take a long time to restart.

This product made laying a straight and consistent line of caulk very easy.
