After trying and rejecting several other manufacturers, these were exact same specs that came with the tooling originally. This is the ONLY supplier that had original spec replacements.For the record tell Home Depot to talk to Rigid about warranty on batteries. The sign over the Rigid Tool Table infers that batteries are includedin the lifetime warranty. THEY ARE NOT, but they don’t tell you that.

I had recently purchased the “new” dewalt combo kit for $399. When i got home with it and opened it I realized its the same old 887 Impact Driver and 996 Hammer drill. There is nothing new about the kit. Theyre just selling you a Flexvolt battery (1) and the yellow rapid charger. I went back to HD the next day and returned it. That night while browsing online I saw this Rigid kit on sale for $279. I have used these drills in the past on jobsites and liked them. For the $120 savings and the LSA i took a gamble and im glad I did. This kit is lacking nothing compared to the Dewalt kit. The Flexvolt batteries are known for reliability issues and that 887 impact driver is notorious for issues with the chuck. The hammer drill is also known to blow gears as time goes by. The rigid kit has better features the hammer drill has more power and same with the impact compared to the dewalt. I am very happy with my decision and also purchased the Octane circular saw and Reciprocating saw after getting and using these drills. Registration for the LSA is very easy online and when you made your HD purchase online all you have to do is enter your online order number. I am a converted Rigid fan now after years of hassles with Yellow and Red. At the end of the day with enough hard use all tools will have issues and batteries dont last forever regardless of brand. I rather have the peace of mind of the LSA with Rigid and just focus on the jobs at hand.

Why would anyone buy these 1.5Ah batteries? They are no more compact than the 2Ah variety.. unless the dimensions listed under “specifications” AREN’T rounded up, in which case they’d be a little bigger than the 2Ah (i highly doubt it, same size cells so must be same size pack). Do they use some absolutely stellar 1.5Ah cells or something? Catch a sale on octane 3Ah packs and you’ll pay maybe $5ish more per pack and get twice the run time, *surely* higher current capacity from 5 Samsung 30Ts (afaik), and they’re barely any larger. Plus no LSA on batteries purchased outside a tool or charger kit, so your warranty is up in the standard 1-3 years.. idk what ridgid’s normal battery warranty is, I always wait for kit sales, but let’s say it’s 3 years which I think is likely… I guess if you use the heck out of ’em you’ll probably toast them in under 3 years and get a new set, otherwise you’re just paying too much for too little capacity. Even if you buy the newer 21700 based 3Ah octanes with regular battery warranty at a similar price on sale and they poop out after your warranty is done, at least you can refurbish them with some Moli P42As and end up with well over twice the capacity of these packs with a greater current rating, virtually identical continuous current capability as the octane, in a package only around 2mmx10mmx5mm bigger.TTi RIDGID should make a “compact octane” with sets of panasonic/Sanyo NCR2070C cells
