For the price you pay for the sub compact they at lease give a better charger instead of a cheap one. When I bought my orginal impact and drill 18v they gave a better charger then the new sub compact charger

I bought this combo kit in the summer mid project to replace the Ridgid drill/driver and impact driver combo that I have had for many years, but that were stolen with a bunch of other tools when my garage was broken into. Loved the originals I had, they had done just an absolute ton of projects, including driving screws for decking and lots of other heavy use and they just kept on ticking. Great balance, power and battery life. I did a bunch of research and decided to stick with the Ridgid to replace the stolen ones as it still ranks really high in multi-brand head to head tests. Right out of the box both the drill/driver and the impact driver had a very noticeable wobble on the chuck. Super annoying when using a longer drill bit on the drill and even more so when using longer bits to drive screws with the driver. I know I should probably have dealt with this right away, but I’ve had projects on the go and, well, covid, and I just haven’t had time to deal with it. But it’s annoying me to the point that I am considering switching brands. I find myself stripping screw heads sometimes now as the bit is skipping around when I first start driving. For comparison I loaded the same bits into an older drill I have – no wobble. So it’s not the bits. Odd that both the drill driver and the drill both have the same wobble as I would presume they are not manufactured at the same time. I’m hoping to find time to deal with this with Ridgid, but for now I am mid project and can’t be dealing with sending tools back. For now I’m giving this combo 3 stars, but will update if I get resolution. Absolutely would give my old Ridgid set (many years old) that was stolen a 5 star rating. I have been a Ridgid fan for a while now, having slowly switched over from a more expensive brand and finding that generally the quality was just as good at a cheaper price point…and I’m old enough now that my ego doesn’t need the label of the more premium branding – as long as the tools do their job and stand up, the label on the outside isn’t of importance to me. Hoping I can resolve this with Ridgid when I can find the time.

I by no means am a professional. I do woodworking on the side. I have been looking at this set since black friday. I saw the price was the same and decided to sell my old hitatchi combo kit and pick these up. Man what an improvement in size! Everything is great about this set. Ill say that i personally do not have a problem with the led light. Its super bright but ive never had it cast a shadow. Also i could see where the clip and bit holder COULD get in the way but just dont put them on… the one thing that i do notice is the trigger lag. Its there…. but only if you do a full trigger pull. If you are doing variable speed squeezes then its not there. It personally doesnt bother me. Yes i notice it from time to time, but im fine with it. Im pretty easy going

The tools are a nice size, don’t make your hands tired or sore after using them for a big job. The only down side to them is even though they made the batteries smaller there is still a good bit of weight to them but still is better then the larger batteries.
