This RIDGID wet dry vac adapter kit adapts to vacuum hoses, wands, and accessories of varying sizes and helps maximize your accessory use. You can use the hose-to-hose adapter to connect two 2-1/2 in. hoses together for extended reach or use 1 of the other adapters to connect your accessory to a smaller hose. The 2-1/2 in. to 1-7/8 in. adapter connects the 1-7/8 in. accessories to a 2-1/2 in. hose and the 1-7/8 in. to 1-1/4 in. adapter connects 1-1/4 in. accessories to a 1-7/8 in. hose.

So, if you have a 2+1/4″ OD hose, and want to attach a tool with a 1+1/4″ ID port, this may work for you.If you’re like me trying to go the other way, it’s useless.As far as I can tell, 2+1/2″ refers to the outer diameter of the female part, which is silly because it’s the inner diameter that matters. 2+1/2″ actually means 2+1/4″ inner diameter. But none of the parts tell you which diameter they’re talking about, so you just have to try it and see.The small end of the small piece, as others have mentioned, has about 1+1/4″ OD.Bring your calipers to the store with you.

1 minute in to using it and it’s going back to the store. The wide head attachment isnt flat so it doesnt create the suction I need. There is a smaller attachment that is flat but it’s very small so it’ll take me forever to finish wet vacuuming. Had to use the smaller attachment to finish the small area I started and the amount of dirt it sucks up is awesome!

Well, it seems that nearly all shop vacs use 1-1/4″ or 2-1/2″ couplings–including my old shop vac. But the Ridgid 16-gallon unit which replaced it uses a unique size. The male hose end is tapered, from 1-3/4″ to 1-9/16″. I couldn’t find any adapters which would couple it to my shop tools, all of which accept 1-1/4″ or 2-1/2″ couplings.But the good news is that middle coupling in this set, nominally 1-7/8″ OD to 2-1/2″, almost accepts the Ridgid hose in the inside diameter. The opening is just a little too small. The fitting is a very flexible plastic. I heated it gently with a heat gun, forced the wand end into it, and let it cool. The fitting has taken a permanent set and now is exactly what I needed.I am pleased with the result.
