It’s not a bad adapter. It should be in stores so you don’t have to order it and go through all that hassle. Actually the product should come with it so you can drain the tub while you filling it up.

I now wonder why this design is not the standard for wet/dry vacs. Picked it up today (3/5/20), went home and swapped it out for the factory cap on my 12 gal Ridgid vac. Attached a 50’ garden hose and went to work on my suddenly flooded crawl space (we’ve had a 100 year rain type event here in central Alabama and many of us have discovered that our crawl spaces – which we thought were water proofed are not!). Only watch out is that the vac will take up water a lot faster than it will drain out through a garden hose. Pace yourself! The manufacturers should be flogged for not having this design as the standard. I moved hundreds of gallons of rain water in an hour and never had to pick up a heavy shop vac. Amazing.

I have a Sears Craftsman shop vac that I bought this adapter for and it fits perfect. I then attached a brass shut off valve, that you use on garden hoses, to the Ridgid drain adapter and then attached a short piece of garden hose to the shut off. After the shop vac sucks up a full tank of water I just open the shut off valve and let the garden hose drain the water into the basement floor drain.

Fits well on the vacuum, add a garden hose valve and garden hose to it and you can run a drain anywhere. As a reminder, you will have to shut off the vacuum to drain the tank.

For whatever reason, the hose and adapter assembly billed me around 10 times…each time it billed, the order cancelled…mind you, this was after I received the “shipped” email….in reality, it was on back order, but was still annoying…had to call customer service to get the cycle to stop billing and cancelling. Received the adapter a couple weeks after ordering….it fits the shop vac properly and drains with little to no leaking through a garden hose. Was hoping it would drain almost as fast as the shop vac filled with water, but doesn’t. 2 minutes of vacuuming equals 10 minutes of draining…..still better than dumping though, or moving the shop vac outside to drain….
