This Hose to Drain Adapter is the very item you need to be able to vacuum up water with your RIDGID Wet Dry Vac continuously and channel it away from the water source. Even though I actually wish this part were included in the purchase price of the Shop Vac, it was very easy & inexpensive to order it online at homedepot.com and pick it up a few days later at my local store. We purchased this adapter several months ago right after we bought the shop vac.It is super easy to attach by simply unscrewing the black drain knob in the front middle of the unit.Then you can just attach the red adapter piece to which you would screw on your hose for channeling the water to the street, a pond, waterfall, or other location that can handle the water or from which you can pump it out to the street, etc. (While the photo shows the color of the adapter as orange, mine was red.)Where we live in southern Utah it doesn’t rain very often; however, when it does rain, it can flood the yard in several places. This Hose-to-Drain Adapter Accessory is just what you need to avoid having to hurt your back filling the shop vac up with water and then lifting it to dump it somewhere. The water will continually flow to wherever you aim the hose.When you are not using the adapter but expect to use it in the near future, just screw on the green knob that comes with it to keep dirt, insects, water, etc. out of the tank. When finished, simply unscrew the red adapter to allow for drainage and drying at least overnight. I suggest opening the unit to dry out the entire tank and wiping it out to keep your next dry batch from sticking to the sides. Replace the original black knob for use with dry vacuuming. Note: A foam filter is available at Home Depot stores to use with wet vac situations.In summary, this adapter meets our expectations exactly for continuous water transfer with our RIDGID Wet Dry Vac. We love how easy it is to attach, use, and remove. We can definitely recommend it!
