The Rockwell 4-1/2” Compact Circular Saw is an effective and hassle-free replacement for a traditional circ saw. Just grab it and go when you need to make some quick rip or plunge cuts—no need to lug out the bulky full-size saw. Even though it has the functionality to handle all sorts of projects, this saw was made for 2” lumber, cutting 2x4s in a single pass. Its lightweight design (only 5 lbs) allows for better control of the tool so you can operate it with just one hand. And it makes overhead cutting much more of a possibility than with a full-size saw. The grip is comfortable to use for extended periods. And the smaller blade allows the 5-amp motor to spin it up to 3,500 rpm, achieving the speeds of much larger saws while putting less strain on the motor for more efficient energy usage and increased life of the tool. The easy to access depth adjustment lever allows for a maximum cutting depth of 1-11/16” at 90°. While the bevel lever lets you make the most common angled cuts from 0-45, with a maximum cutting depth of 1-1/8” on those cuts. Again, this saw excels at 2x4s, but is also awesome on plywood, hardwood flooring, pegboard, dowels, molding and more. Comes with one 24T TCT blade, a parallel guide, vacuum adapter, and blade key.

Good quality and powerful. Like that it can cut a 2×4 with its 4.5″ blade. Thought the trigger safety switch was a little clumsy. I think of myself as having medium sized hands but it just wasn’t in quite the right place for me. Wish Home depot had one on display in my local store so I could experience handling it before I made the purchase. Also didn’t see the correct blades for this in stock. I’ll have to order them. Otherwise, works fine and meets my expectations.

Saw was better than I was expecting. Light weight and does the same work as a larger saw. I would recommend this saw for anyone that likes to work with wood

After reading all these 5 star reviews I hate to be different. I bought this saw for one reason – to trim about an inch off of 1×6 porch boards. After being able to cut through two the saw just quit, not running but cutting. Could the blade had dulled out that soon? I couldn’t even cut through a small 1×4 piece of wood. Any advice would be appreciated.

Saw meets intended use well. In the online product description where “Customers also ordered other products”, only saw blades that fit this model should be listed to avoid returns.

Out of the box. Cuts pulling to one side or other. Never could cut straight line.

I am an avid woodworker and spend all my free time in my workshop. My wife bought this saw for me last Christmas and after using it I feel I need to leave this review. The saw has a lot of power for a little saw but is hard to keep on line. The dust port works very well but when attached to a vacuum, the hose drags across the project and can block your view. My biggest complain with this saw is the safety button you have to push before the saw will start. I have very large hands but I still can not start this saw with one hand (unless you are left handed). This button need to be repositioned so that a normal person can push the safety button with their thumb while starting the saw. I would buy this again if the button problem is corrected. I am trying to figure out a way to bypass the button or convert it to a switch.

This tool is so versatile that it has made my other saws feel neglected. It is excellent and so functional!

Not much power.
Nikko Ward (verified owner) –
definitely, an excellent tool, quite useful and with an acceptable power; The only drawback is: the trigger and safety, it is difficult for small hands to operate the two buttons at the same time with one hand. Why do not they use the same trigger as the Versacut?

I purchased this saw for a job thinking it would do the job I needed and then I could give it to one of my techs to use. Once I used it, I decided to keep it for myself. Very easy to use and plenty of power. Much faster then using my cordless skill saw. Love. I recommend it!

I am Senior Female, remodeling daughters house, and this saw is awesome! I bought my saw about 10 months ago, it is light weight, easy to use, cuts anything I would use a circle saw on, and everyone who has tried it, loved it. I just purchased two more for gifts, so mine is not on loan when I need it. Another Great Rockwell tool!!!
