The neck down mounting tangs make it easier to cut curved thin wood. I use it to carve palm tree bark instead of a saber saw or jig/scroll saw. I wish the tangs were necked down to leave a 1/2 to 3/4 in straight blade exposure to allow for cutting thicker stock. I fine the wood/metal blade last longer for my work.
