This cable supports video resolutions up to UHD 4K and is Thunderbolt compatible, supporting DisplayPort over the Thunderbolt port. This cable is also backward compatible with lower resolutions, such as 1080p and 720p. Because this cable is a passive adapter, it does not require an additional power source.

Not much to say–it’s a cable and it works. Using it to connect a 2015 MacBook Air with a Thunderbolt 2 port (Mini DisplayPort) to a Dell 4K monitor using the HDMI input.
