I typically carry a cereal bowl around to organize the different bits I use during a Saturday home project. This morning’s task was installing an over-the-range/undermount microwave oven. The microwave the builder installed died and I was able to buy at Home Depot what I thought was a direct replacement for about the same cost as a visit by a repairman. The old GE model # had been discontinued, and this was the closest replacement, but it was 1/4″ taller. This meant breaking out the tools. Where’s my cereal bowl?I love my Ryobi tools with the One+ system Lithium Ion batteries. I’ve actually given away or thrown out 5 old style NiCad battery cordless screwdrivers since I got the Ryobi Lithium Ions. I had to give this Ryobi extra bit holder/clip a try to see if it would replace my cereal bowl full of bits. First thing I noticed is that one of the older tools didn’t have the needed screw hole location. See the photos. Also I noticed the recess on the back of the clip doesn’t match the trapezoidal shape of the boss with the screw hole. Just as well, this way you can orient it any way you want without having to match the boss.It sticks out, but is definitely easier to clip/unclip a bit than the “built-in” bit holder molded into the front of the tools. There are enough screw holes to sport four of these if so desired.
