Because this product comes with no instructions or limitations on the packaging, I tried as other reviewers have to drill through existing wall 2×4 studs to run wiring. I used as a straight extension for first use and was unable to hold the shaft. The corded drill I held in my hand twisted and ripped out of my hand and the Ryobi Flexible Bit Holder twisted and is now permanently twisted to a near 90 degree angle. My brand new bit fell out inside the wall and is irretrievably lost in the wall. The magnet does not have a strong hold. After using and reading other reviews and seeing photos, my best guess is that this would be perfect for its intended use, if the online description and package instructions told what that intended use was. I would not recommend using this product for any application where you would not be able to hold and guide the shaft with your off hand. I believe this is strictly a two handed tool. Pros may immediately recognize this but given the huge market for home DIY’ers, specific instructions would make all the difference in enjoying this product.

It is easy to use and it will work with any brand drill. it gets the bit into areas that you otherwise could not get the drill into.

I broke a bolt on my truck that was behind the front grill and had to drill it out. There was no way a regular drill bit would reach and the grill was partially in the way. I was able to use this with a hex drill bit and get it drilled out. I took it slow and it was not a huge bend on the shaft but enough that it made a couple curves. It worked and saved me a lot of trouble . I am happy I bought this flexible shaft instead of the cheaper ones because this has some strength to it and was capable of pushing on it with a bit of force to drill without worrying that it was going to twist up in a knot and get ruined. I am really happy that I had this in my tool box before I needed it and ready to put to work.

I had previously bought a cheap flexible bit holder I needed to get to a screw under my cabinet and it broke right away. I ended up picking up this one for the same job and it worked flawlessly. The cheap one I had was coated in plastic, this one has a metal coating. It feels solid and durable. It is great for those hard to reach areas.
