I need a 1/2″ drill bit, a size that is very expensive vs say a 1/8″. 21 bits for the price of ~ONE 1/2″ bit. Drilled a 3/16″ thick steel plate, chipping away rather than spiraling off. The smaller bits to be used for pilot holes. Will be using the 1/2″ bit on 5/16″ thick aluminum next.

For a D.I.Y homeowner these will fair well to them. However, I am reluctant to recommend them to a professional who needs reliable and durable bits. For my needs though, these bits have proved good enough producing a clean hole that was easy. I’ve used these to drill holes into my studs, having no problems tackling those jobs. The coating on the bit has shown light signs of deteriorating after using them sparingly for 2 years. This is why I am reluctant to recommend them to a professional. However, as a D.I.Y homeowner to do projects here and there, these are a great cost saving alternative.

Well designed, manages to fit all the bits I need for use around the house (2x of the most common ones) while keeping the case quite compact and not taking too much room in my tool bag. I’ve only used it a handful of times to drill wood and metal boxes, but they seem to cut pretty well and don’t really walk. I’d give it 5 stars if it was just a tad easier to pull the bits out of the sleeve.
