Works great! Set up is easy. The only “complaint” is a word of advice: it doesn’t need to be clamped down on the door tightly, only tight enough so it doesn’t slide or move. The phillips head that attaches to the tightening screw is not protected, so if you tighten to where the pads get compressed, the screw makes contact with the door. I had already painted the doors, so it scratched the paint on the first couple hinges…just caused a little unnecessary touch-up.

Prior to purchasing this handy tool, I was cutting hinges with a chisel by hand, which worked ok but was very laborious, took too much time, and was not the most smooth or accurate cut. This tool made the work of cutting door hinges super easy, literally took 5 minutes to complete, and that included getting the tools out and setting up. The cuts themselves took 30 seconds each for a perfect and smooth cut. Definitely recommend getting one of these.

I used this jig for 3 1/2″ interior door hinges and did a test using a Bosch Colt handheld router. The depth gauge was spot on for the thickness of the hinge, and the size when the round over plastic inserts were in place fit the hinge perfectly. I would recommend this jig.

Works well with good results until the plastic wears down or gets knicked. Then the shape changes dramatically, requiring custom/freehand work to make the hinges fit.

Works exactly as advertised. Very easy to set up and use, making precisee mortises in my door slab. after my first try, the remaining doors were mortised and installed in about 45 minutes for each door. Perfect mortise, very easy. Would highly recommend.
