I consider store brand tools to be more or less consumables. If a store brand tool lasts longer than one job, that’s a bonus. I bought this to freehand texture a piece of oak. It worked well. I then used it with multiple carbide wheels to cut railroad steel for a couple hours. It worked well. I assumed the motor would burn up cutting steel, but I have since used the saw over and over to cut wood and steel. It has lasted far, far longer than I expected. When cutting metal, the gray plastic guard melted and caught fire. So to cut metal you have to cut some of that away to avoid this problem. The laser guide is inaccurate of course. But adjust for that and it’s at least consistent.When this saw burns out, I will definitely get another.
