The sander heats up, and I have to stop every so often because it hot on my hands. Good for a very small area.

My old Ryobi detail sander quit working after almost 20 years of problem free use. It probably could have been repaired as it appears that the on/off switch needed to be replaced. I decided to just get a new one in bright green to match all of the other Ryobii power tools in my box.

Using this for detailing old trim on a 150 year old house. Works great for maintaining the complex profiles on some of this old trim while removing years of paint buildup globs etc… gets paint buildup out of tight corners without destroying the profile lines.

The product works well but the sand paper does not stick well at all! From the vibration of the machine it slides off easily and after trying to restick it several times, it no longer holds.

Only giving this lower stars bc it was silly of me to not get the battery operated multitool that has this function and a lot more. Ended up exchanging it hefore use

I am sanding and repainting a wooden gazebo we built 15 years ago. We have taken out the screens and trim so we could sand down the frame and re-paint the whole thing. None of the sanders we had would fit between the slats of the 2” X 3”s that run all the way around on all sides halfway up. This sander will fit in those tight spaces right into the corners. We couldn’t manage without. It will take paint off right down to the wood. The Diablo sandpaper that fits works very well.I have not noticed the heat problem that others have noticed but the adhesive sandpaper appears to be the same adhesive that holds the sanding pad on. After replacing the sandpaper a couple of times, the sanding pad starts to peel off. I am surprised at such an obvious defect and intend to write to Ryobi to see if there is a fix.

Hello Ryobi – “Hook and Loop” The technology has been available since the Apollo program…When the sander pads stick – I like how it performs… If it weren’t for the sander pads tending to fall off (see other posts – they describe my issues to a ‘T’) I’d give this product 4 1/2 or 5 stars….

Detail Sander is Ok, trouble is getting the Sanding triangle sheets. Bought two packs of Sanding Sheets at Home Depot and the Diablo Pressure Sensitive Aghesive would not stick, besides being a pain to remove the protective plastic. The store ran out of stock of Sanding Paper for the last week.

I searched online for a small hand sander and found ROYBI 4.0. It was pricey. But what I bought was worth 10 times it’s price‼️‼️ Little did I know how powerful that tool is‼️‼️ The triangle shape sandpaper area is perfect for the The sharp edges of the small window frame I’m replacing‼️

It works great. Easy to access those tight and narrow spots. However, I am concerned about it over heating. During my first and only and only use, it became very warm . Almost to hot to handle.

Works much better than my old one ever did.

Replacement sanding pads with adhesive backs seems hard to find.

Like others I found myself wishing it had been made with a hook and loop setup. So, I epoxy glued a piece of triangular-cut hook material to the existing pad….Did that three years ago..still running and I love it! Make your triangle any size and (if you choose) let it overhang …allows bending inside curved areas! BTW REGULARLY use those same belt cleaner sticks as you would for bigger machines….BEFORE it ruins those corners.
