Ryobi has come a long ways in their RD department and are no longer the low end tool. Planer is solid built and works well. Directional dust port, easy blade changes and guide. Works great for me!

Ryobi tools always work better than I expect, but hard to replace the power cord.

This is a very good planer for the money. Ryobi has excellent designs but these are not heavy duty use them every day tools. You should get extra blades as you can’t resharpen the blades and Ryobi parts can be difficult to find once the tool is discontinued.

Very economical and practical. More than adequate for most small to medium jobs. I used it to plane four glued up boards for a desk I was building. I’ve never owned or used a hand-planer before. I was quit pleased with the final product. This tool saved me a few hours of sanding.

I originally purchased a lesser known brand planer due to the lower price point. As the old saying goes you get what you pay for. It worked for a short time but when I had major difficulties with the planer I returned it. I know Ryobi has a good reputation for a quality product so I decided to purchase this planer as a replacement. From the moment I removed it from the box I could tell it was a much better device than the original. For the same size unit the Ryobi has more heft and a sturdier feel. Even the appearance of the individual parts is an improvement over the lesser model. Though I’ve had this planer for only a short time I feel confident in its performance . It works well taking down the rough areas on the planks I use to make “natural” tables and furniture. A smooth, even job is necessary to have the furniture look and work correctly and this Ryobi is fantastic for that use. In sum, for the price and performance I highly recommend this Ryobi planer.

This planer is a champ, especially considering it’s one of the lower-priced options at the “big-box” stores. I’ve not measured the planing depths to confirm, but the adjustment feels firm and reliable, as I’ve had no issues setting the depth at one setting and finding at the end of the run it’s on another. I like that the blade has a “Park” mode and there’s an integrated kickstand – they make the tool feel safer and like you won’t damage your blade as easily from normal handling. It’s left 40-year old floor joists and studs smooth and taken the hard wood off easily. The dust port direction selector is nice, but the bag is basically useless – be prepared to make a mess.

I purchased this tool a couple of weeks back because I did not have room for a bid wood planer. This tool is a great little tool & compact. Easy to use & does not take up any room. Great for my little workshop.

Pretty happy with it. First planner I ever owned and seems pretty good. I bought it to shave down some 5/4″ boards to 3/4″. It took me some time to figure out how to really get it to work well and cut consistently. Plenty of power, never really bogged down at all. The dust blower can be switched to either side so that is pretty useful.Couple negatives…the dustbag is pretty small so if you need to make a lot or deeper cuts, get a shop vac that you can attach right into the dust ports. Also, the planer blades are wider than the shoe. What a stupid idea. Pull the blades out and round off the corners otherwise you will pretty easily cut some groves if you aren’t perfectly flat.

Makes my life so much easier. I spent most of my life using hand planes but I can get stuff done so much faster with it only draw back is the bag fills up a lot faster then you’ll realize
