Didn’t have the saw I needed for a DIY project so the wood was a jagged mess. This smoothed the edges so I didn’t have to start over. Worked well enough for my purpose. I got the corded version, however, if you’re using Ryobi Cordless tools all day long, get the 3.0 ah or 4.0 ah battery – you will need the power. They need to just retire the 1. ah battery.

DYIer here. This hand planner workst great and it does what its supposed to do, helps you do your job of takin the top of any wood FAST. The trick is to not press to much onto the wood so its leveled on every pass. One thing is that it makes a bit of a mess. Try to do it out side or If you can use a vacuum or dust collector with it. Its gonna save you time on cleaning the work area. The adjustable knob works great. Great price.

It was easy to use and left the wood smooth enough to stain without sanding. Great product. It took a little practice to get it even if you were going across a wide board, but pretty easy to handle.

Works great for the purpose of a hand planer. I got consistent and accurate cuts without grooving. Overall, a good buy for the money.

So far this thing works great, I love the fact that i can adjust the exhaust to one side or another and attach a vacuum hose. Also the kick-stand has really saved me many times already.

This works great easy to use and is easy to adjust depth. Nice to be able to put dust bag on either. Didnt know about kickstand it’s a nice feature to be able to set it down and not wait for blades to stop spinning. Also great feature to protect the blade.

Used this to plane down Bifold closet doors. It worked as expected. The dust bag doesn’t hold alot but worked pretty well.

If you don’t have the huge shop space to do your wood working or a $$$$ stand alone planer. This is the perfect tool for your woodshop.

Pretty happy with it. First planner I ever owned and seems pretty good. I bought it to shave down some 5/4″ boards to 3/4″. It took me some time to figure out how to really get it to work well and cut consistently. Plenty of power, never really bogged down at all. The dust blower can be switched to either side so that is pretty useful.Couple negatives…the dustbag is pretty small so if you need to make a lot or deeper cuts, get a shop vac that you can attach right into the dust ports. Also, the planer blades are wider than the shoe. What a stupid idea. Pull the blades out and round off the corners otherwise you will pretty easily cut some groves if you aren’t perfectly flat.

I used this to quickly strip off the layer of painted surfaces and get to the bare wood. It was great practice to get a “close to even” surface. Also great practice for not getting snipes at the beginning and end of cutting. Another affordable price for a wood tool for my DIYs!

Bought this for a deck rebuild project. Worked great for helping to smooth and level several cupped boards. Blades lasted the whole project, app 20 12ft planks. They were still in ok shape but I reversed them anyway so as to be ready for what ever the next project is. My only complaint is that the dust bag fills up immediately! Since I was working outside I just left it off and swept up when I was finished. I would recommend this for light to medium duty work.
