I bought this with the intention of using it to make holiday decoration cut outs based completely on the happiness I’ve had from owning and using other Ryobi products. In fact, Ryobi is my prefered tool manufacturer and the only brand I buy when I can.Any way, I bought this Variable Speed Jig Saw mainly for doing fine cuts on plywood, you know, curves and such. Once I had the pattern onto the plywood sheet I started cutting it out after setting the proper speed. Too slow and the wood could splinter, too fast and the wood could burn. However the saw performed fantastically for following the pattern, tracing the curves and getting into the sharp corners. I soon had a pile of cut out figures that were ready for painting.The saw had plenty of power to not only cut the plywood but the 2×4 posts to stand them up as well. It never slowed down or struggled, the handle was comfortable and did not transfer hardly any vibration at all. The controls were simple to use and felt solid with just the right amount of resistance when changing speeds. The quick connect for the blade makes it super easy to change blades without feeling like the blade will come out while in use. The quality construction to this saw is apparent from the moment you take it out of the box until you shut it off after making that last cut. Ryobi always builds quality tools and this saw is no exception!

Works exactly like you would expect. It’s a jig saw… I replaced the blade before I used it considering that’s where most manufacturers put cheapo blades on. It cut through an inch thick of wood though no problem.
