This trimmer is a great price and is a good product, however I would have really been a lot happier if came with an edge glide for when doing sidewalks.

I would prefer to have only bought the bottom part of the weed whacker and it was the motor at the bottom of my previous 18v weed whachter that decided to fail. In general the design needs to put METAL guards around the spinning part to keep grass from getting wrapped around the shaft. The plastic guard breaks too easily.

Best trimmer I have used. Edger feature works well, easy to refill the line and the line feeds by simply taking your finger off the trigger. The charger and battery both have lights showing the battery charge status. I am very pleased with this purchase after all my initial concerns.

Based on my personal experience, this trimmer/edger requires a lot of practice to control the edging function. The wheel is not super helpful (it’s very narrow & flimsy) when rolling it on the pavers adjacent to the grass to be edge. I have St. Augustine grass so it tends to creep on the pavers as it grows.

I just got this and works great. I love the longer shaft and adjustable handle.

The tool seems to be doing the trick. Sometimes I have to go over the spot I’m trimming again, but otherwise it works fine!

Ryobi is, in my humble opinion, the best cordless tool on the market. I own everything from a flashlight to all kinds of saws. The weed eater is by far better than any gas powered one. No loud whining motor and no fumes to contend with and it does as good or better than the gas ones. I will never buy another gas job.

I have had this trimmer for about a year and a half now and I will say that it works great as a trimmer, but there’s a lot to be desired when you try to edge with it. I don’t use up that much line while trimming with it thanks to the variable speed trigger. If a lot of the other reviewers on here would just ease up on the trigger without stopping it, then it would not feed the line out and cause them to go through it so quickly. On the other hand I go through a lot of string while I am trying to edge. It could be the tougher grass that I am having to try to cut through while also scraping some of the string off with the edge of the driveway or sidewalk, but that is where I find the issue with this trimmer. It is able to get the job done, but you would be better off using a dedicated edger if you are cutting thorugh tough grass and into some tougher dirt to try and get those cleaner edge lines Overall I would still recommend this trimmer, just know that it has some limitations.

I have had really good success with my string trimmer. It works well but will eat the string if you completely take your fingers off the variable speed trigger. The secret is to not let the trimmer stop running. Just let it run very slowly as you reposition your trimmer for the next trimming location. This way the auto advance does not advance the string. This will save you a lot of frustration and wasted string.

I purchased the combo wacker and blower, the latter I already had one of and was using at an other property. The combo replaced some stinky gas ones that I’d been using since I obtained this home in 2012 : good riddance! I almost completed the first wacking and blowing with one battery! No worries, I have several other batteries for all my Roybi 18v. tools. The variable speed blower is great for consolidating piles without spreading the mess all other the place. I use a broom and dust pan to get the pile into a greenery recycle can.

Just bought for present. Perfect for the yard, easy to use.

Product works very well. All the complaints about eating line is true only if you start and stop the trimmer often. When you keep it running it does not feed line.

Works great,plenty of power.

A little bit heavy. But I’m also on the short side. Can easily do 30 minutes of cutting with it which is all I need it for
