This replaced my almost decade old Ryobi weed eater. I think this was the first electric one. Exceeds many expectations of efficiency and reliability already. One battery now to complete my yard! Awesome!

I purchased it about a month ago and have used it three times so far. So far so good. I’ve only previously used old gas powered trimmers. Battery power worked well with the 4 amp hr battery. (Other reviews using low capacity batteries seemed to have a lot of complaints). I have a small front and back yard and completing both would deplete about 1/4 to 1/2 a full charge on the 4Amp hr battery. Considering the specs of the tool (single string/battery powered) I was overall pleasantly surprised by the performance. One criticism would be the auto string feeding mechanism. I wish there were more control over it. I find myself continuing to run the trimmer when moving to different sections of the yard instead of stopping it in order to avoid advancing the string unnecessarily.Overall a good tool for light home yard work.

I bought this for my mom, she is 75 and loves it. It is light weight which she had to have and it works great. has plenty of power and plenty of run time.

Is too heavy for women

Switching from trimming to edging is not as easy as it could be. Maybe some springs to assist with the rotation.

Before I start, I must clarify, that I have never owned or operated an electric powered lawn tool. I have forever been a gas powered lawn trimmer, hedge trimmer, push mower, lawn mower, etc. owner. I was skeptical about going down this rabbit hole into the uncharted territory of electrical powered lawn tools. The same battery that I use in my power tools to cut and trim my lawn? No Way!Regardless I was in a bind and all after some research I figured that I would take a chance on the Ryobi 18V Trimmer. I was not disappointed. The lot is about a quarter of an acre fenced and in need of a trim around the edges. This little guy worked perfect! Plenty of power for the entire job and then some if necessary. I would recommend this trimmer for anyone living in a standard urban home that needs to trim their lawn for maintenance. Louder than expected but not as loud as gas powered trimmers and for sure enough power and run time to get the job done. Good job Ryobi!

Have not used it yet. Hope the battery is good. I bought a Pole saw from Home Depot and the battery would never charge up. Home Depot did nothing about it.

This is the tool that converted me to Ryobi battery products. This trimmer/edger works flawlessly. After getting used to the automatic spool feed, I find it a more efficient way to complete my yard work. It has two speeds: one burns through tougher areas and the other is great for conserving trimmer line which is helpful when hitting up against concrete while edging as well as battery power. There is no compromise with this 2-in-1; I like the edging capability of it more than a standalone gas edger. I like its ease of use, its efficiency in swapping between the trimmer and edger on the fly, and its dependability, but the main reason I love this trimmer is that it cuts very clean lines.About twice a season the unit may start to vibrate violently to the point of making your hands numb. To fix this, you only need to tighten the 2-3 torx screws on the swivel pedal and trimmer body.

i have owned this for oner 3 years now and it has withstood the test of time so far. i didnt have a large area to trim until recently moving, i now have about a half acre with multiple trees and garden beds. i have used it many many times without any issues with the edging portion. the only functional issues I’ve encountered with it is switching from the trimmer to the path edger setting, I’m not sure if its a bag design so it doesn’t swivel easy or if blades of grass get gunked up inside of the joint but it takes few swift kicks to get it to unlock to pivot the head for the setting. ergonomically the main grip is comfortable and the attached handle has multiple adjustable angles so you can dial it in the way you like it, however although its not a heavy unit, it still gets tiresome swinging it around if you have a decent sized area to trim, i would recommend a shoulder strap if your going to do a good bit of edging.

This unit is light and easy on the back. The trigger allows for varying head speeds. I love the rotating head so I can use one tool for edging and trimming. I always buy Ryobi because one battery fits all the tools. Also, unlike other companies they always have the same battery configuration so my tools that are 19 years old can use the new lithium batteries. It dies have the power to do an acre of field grass but is great for my 1/2 acre corner lot.

I have used alot. Easy to use. Cuts great! Hi/Low switch and variable speed great. Saves on battery. Will last 45-60 minutes. Auto feed works well. Switching to edger could be easier. Twisted trimmer line very good.

I bought this in the fall and it worked perfect for my lawn around my fence and trees. The edging feature was very handy and worked well.

This is a great product – I really like all the Ryobi cordless products. My only comment is it took a while to get used to the auto-feed of the string, but once you get the hang of it, it is easy to use.
