The variable speed trigger and 2-speed switch deliver increased control for any application. The adjustable 11 in. – 13 in. cutting width allows you to optimize your trimmer for increased run time or a wider cut swath. This lightweight and well-balanced design also has an adjustable front handle for user comfort and is equipped with a 4.0 Ah battery for extended run time. The trimmer does a very nice job of edging with one flaw. There is no metal or plastic guide that lines up with the sidewalk so that you can control it while you trim. It is like a painter trying to paint a straight line with a brush. You need to have a perfectly steady hand and a good deal of artistic skill in order to not have the tool wobble and cut too deep into the grass.

I’ve been using this trimmer in my yard for the past year and it’s still going strong. Runtime with 4AH battery is about 30 minutes of continuous full-speed trimming, and this has been plenty of time for me to get my whole yard finished. I’m really impressed with the strength of this trimmer! Grass and weeds – even small vines – are easily and cleanly cut using the recommended trimmer line. Don’t expect to be cutting thick vines or small trees – remember this is still an 18V motor… if this is what you’re looking for, I would recommend stepping up to the 40V trimmers, or better yet get one of the gasoline trimmers for compatibility with blade attachments. This 18V trimmer with straight shaft has exceeded my expectations for a cordless trimmer. This technology has advanced significantly since its inception, and Ryobi has another winner with this addition to their 18V outdoor tool line.

Bought this 18 volt brushless string trimmer and am very surprised of the power it has. A lot more power than my Kawasaki gas trimmer. 4 amp battery does not last to long, on low speed lasted about 15 minutes, so have extra batteries available. I will be using this as my primary trimmer from this day, going forward.
