For a cordless edger it works very well. If your “edge” is overgrown a lot, the grass will “bog” the edger down. Make your cut slowly and allow the edger to maintain it normal speed. Once the initial edging is completed, the follow up cuts will be a piece of cake. Just remember that battery powered edgers don’t have the same torque power that gas powered ones have. After the initial cutting, this Ryobi does just fine.

Item was more then what I expected. Didnt have super high expectations considering it was the 18v model but made easy work of all the edging I had to do including a large area of over growth around one side of our drive way. Super easy to assemble and use. Highly recommend.

Based on other reviews I expected it to eat up batteries quickly, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I replaced a gas powered edger with this and my driveway was in pretty good shape. If you have a gravy growth of grass to cut first time you might have some issues first time you use it. After that, I think you’ll be very pleased. My driveway is around 100 ft long and even a small battery takes care of it with lots of battery to spare.
