RYOBI introduces the 18-Volt ONE+ Cordless 1/4 in. Hex QuietSTRIKE Pulse Driver with 1.5 Ah Compact Lithium-Ion Battery. QuietSTRIKE Technology is gives more power and speed than a drill but with 50% less noise than an impact driver. This new drill produces 3,200 RPM and 2,200 ipm. The tool features tri-beam LED lights to help illuminate the darkest work spaces. The included battery features lithium-ion cells, providing the user with over 50% more runtime compared to the (P102) 18-Volt ONE+ Lithium-Ion 1.3 Ah Compact Battery. The driver works well and is extremely quiet compared to alternative brushed drivers. I would definitely recommend this over the 18V 3-Spreed Ryobi brushed driver especially as they retail for the same price. This driver is a “Impulse Driver” meaning it uses hydraulic fluid as part of the impacting action that cuts down on noise. Because of this you cant compare traditional torque numbers between it and a traditional impact driver, they simply will be widely different even if they provide similar power.My only complaint is the size (and the size of the traditional Ryobi Impact Driver). The only Ryobi impact driver that is more compact is their brushless version and their upcoming brushless HP version. If your in the Ryobi space and need an impact driver and don’t want to spend the additional $20-30 for a brushless one, get this over the regular Ryobi brushed impact driver — they are similar sizes but this one is better. I really don’t see a reason for the alternative impact driver to exist in its current form.

I purchased this and the 1/4” brushless HP Compact at the same time for two different maintenance shops. I REALLY like how quiet this one is, but it is the same physical size as my 1/2” drive. Pretty big for a 1/4”. Also, kind of a bummer it’s not brushless. If you just need quieter, this is the one. If noise isn’t a concern, I like the light weight, compactness and brushless design of the HP Compact version.
