I have three ryobi cordless grider’s two brushless and one with brushes. All have been good tools I only drop a star here because you can’t push this model as hard as the brushed before it trips the battery and stops as a field mechanic in the mine industry I use them constantly. I put them through more in a week then the average buyer ever will. For the price and if you do your part in taking care of them there unbeatable.

Picked up the RYOBI 18-Volt ONE+ Cordless Brushless 4-1/2 in. Cut-Off Tool/Angle Grinder to add to my ever-growing RYOBI ONE+ tool collection after having an oil tank removed from my basement. After removal, we had steel pipe legs remaining sticking up from our poured concrete floor that we wanted to cut off and grind down. I went back and forth choosing to go with this one or a more powerful wired version. Ultimately, I chose this route since I already had the battery and thinking about the future uses down the road. This grinder cut through the piping like butter. Very powerful for a handheld, battery powered power tool. Highly recommend!

I purchased this primarily to clean rust from wrought iron fencing prior to repainting. It works well for this purpose (along with a sanding wheel), and the cordless feature is very handy when I am working behind bushes (so that I don’t have to worry about a cord getting snagged) or far up the hill behind my home. The 4 1/2 inch wheel is large enough that I still also need to use a small rust-removal attachment in my cordless drill to get into smaller, tighter spaces, however. Overall, these tools make the task of removing rust far quicker.

I’ve had this for a month or so, and it’s great for minor cutting and grinding. I appreciate the portability and design. The only drawback- although it’s great that it shuts off when the cutting wheel gets in a bind, it’s a bummer I have to turn the switch off and disconnect the battery, reconnect and switch on to get it to run again. A bit annoying, but otherwise a handy tool.
