I bought this to replace a corded belt sander. I was tired of working around the cord all the time. I am very pleased with this product, it is powerful enough to get the job done. The only negative is it uses a different size belt, so I had to buy some extras.

First project was leveling off a pine table top. Have lots of batteries ready as it will plow through them. 3 amp battery lasts about 10 minutes with constant use. Other than that, it works great. As I became used to the routine of changing the belts, I found it very easy to adjust the tracking so that the belt doesn’t drift. Great tool overall!

Perfect

It did its job, too bad it doesn’t have adjustable speed and it doesn’t come with a battery.

Works great. The problem people have with the belt running off is completely correctable using the adjustment knob. Great sander for the price!

A solid little beast! Definitely a tool everyone should have in the arsenal even if it’s just for a few uses here and there.

It needs the biggest battery you can buy to get any life from it. The handle can pop out of its position just be aware. I was sanding a fence, so I wasn’t horizontal but it surprised me how often it moved. The belt tends to deviate inward rubbing against the sander but I don’t care about that. It does remove wood as long as you have the power behind it! Good buy

Great value for xmas purchase.

Operation is intuitive; cordless operation a big plus where outlets not always conveniently located on the job; Ryobi belts n/a but HD has a wide array of 3”x18” belts in the store.

Price and quality makes it a bargain. I think it competes with higher-priced items and oh the One plus battery that fits everything and is reliable!

I own about a dozen 18V Ryobi power tools, and have been very pleased. I’m not satisfied with the sander’s tracking. It is very hard to adjust, and when you finally have it running straight, it does not completely cover the shoe. If I wasn’t so committed to the 18V system, I would have returned it.

sanding paper shifts off of tool, which requires frequent stopping to slide back on. No clamps to prevent it from continuing to slide off. The torque is rather powerful so must be strong enough to resist the pull or else no actual sanding is achieved. Battery power is used up quickly, recommend having 2 batteries. I wouldn’t buy this again. Orbital sander is easier to use and still achieves great results. I will be keeping this one and only using for rough sanding of clamped wood only. Without clamps there is enough torque to catapult a 2×4 board that is 75 inches long.
