I finally upgraded my still working original P510 Ryobi saw because I’d beat the heck out of it, it seemed time, and my brother was thrilled for the hand-me-down. Based on a week of use, I think it was well worth it but here’s my comparison between the two:On the PLUS side the new saw is clearly more powerful than the old one and seems to cut faster. Also, the trigger lock does not need to be pressed every time you want to pull the trigger. This was an issue with the old saw if I was using the saw all day or if I had to cut something at an odd angle where it was hard to hold the saw.On the NEGATIVE side the new saw is a lot heavier (5.6 vs 4 lbs.) and longer than the old saw, so it is not as well balanced so depending on where you are working, could make it a tighter fit. Check out the picture, it’s a noticeable increase that may affect your saw storage as well. For instance I often used my old saw one-handed cutting branches, old pipe, etc. and for that, it seems like a lot of weight out past the end of my arm. This isn’t a deal breaker for me as I’ll probably get used to it. Currently, Dec. 2020, it looks like all the Ryobi reciprocating saws are in the 5~6 lb. range so there isn’t an option if that’s critical for you.

I’ve had this saw for roughly a month and used it on several projects – installing a doggie door, cutting heating ducting to install a humidifier and some general rough carpentry. It’s easy to control, powerful, and being cordless it’s very convenient.

I use Ryobi cordless tools exclusively, and the new, brushless format tools are right at the top of the game. This reciprocating saw is easy to use, tough and powerful, as well as ergonomically correct. I will recommend this tool as well as all of the Ryobi lineup to anyone who needs cordless power at the ready.

Works perfectly and has tons of power. Only downside being it’s pretty big and heavy.
Georgette Kertzmann (verified owner) –
Great power. Don’t need my corded saw.

Used already for neighbors craft project. With the proper blade it did the trick. Cordless is the way to go.
