It is a bit flimsy if not treated right. But overall, in a professional’s hands, an invaluable.tool.

I’ve only used it one time, and so far I thought it was very smooth and I really liked that it was so easy to set the depth of the bit.

I always heard that the router was an incredibly versatile tool in the shop and once I got this, I understand why. The plunge base makes the possibilities endless. Once I got the tool so many projects got on my radar and was incredibly helpful in making beautiful projects for my home and for friends and family. Of course the bits are just as important as the tool with the Ryobi router variety pack has been treating we fantastic thus far. The springs on this can be quite stiff and needs some effort at times, but I rather not mess up projects going too far. I love the micro-adjustment screw making it so easy to sneak up on the exact depth you need. My only issue is that the locking handle slowly became loose but that was an easy fix to tighten back up!

Bought it to go with the router table. Both work great for what I do.

If you’re getting this for occasional use for mortising doors, or doing decorative edge work, it’s probably a fine tool for that. I figured I’d try it as an alternative to $60-80 more expensive plunge base routers from DeWalt or Bosch. Turns out, those tools are worth the additional cost. The plunge mechanism on this router is woefully inaccurate – the bit has probably 1/16th inch of slop in any direction as you plunge, which is absolutely unacceptable. I will be returning this tool first thing tomorrow and purchasing a better unit.In addition, the collet is fairly shallow and even with a 4-1/8″ OAL router bit seated all the way down (which you aren’t supposed to do, as a precaution against the bit getting stuck inside) it won’t clear the base plate, so you can’t set the router down on the base. This wouldn’t be a dealbreaker on its own for me, but it’s an additional annoyance that I won’t miss with a higher end tool.

How do you adjust the height when you have it installed in the Ryobi router table?

was using it to route out some aluminum, and on the 3rd piece it stopped. no obvious damage, no fuse, no smell-let it sit overnight, went back, still inoperable. going to see if i can find the receipt, exchange it. need that tool for projects and to have it cut out is annoying.

I bought this about a month ago and used it on the Ryobi router table. This router works great with the table. Being able to vary the speed is great when working with different hard woods.

I have battled fixed base routers for years. I wish there was a base to apply to the router for wider projects. .

Need accessories to use this item. Which sold separately this makes using this router out of box impossible? Router itself is great.

The plunge router was a beast. It handled thick, uneven 2x4s without a wiggle. Tons of power. Piece of advice —use a 1/2in.bit. More sturdy. If you are touting thinner, less bulky stock, the 1/4” bit will do just fine.

Plenty of power. Only issue is the plunge lock feels, not secure… It hasn’t failed on me, yet. That’s my only issue.

Great plunge router, love that I can use either 1/4 or 1/2 inch bits because it makes shopping for and using different types of bits a breeze. Very easy to use, has great power… highly recommend.

This tool is strong and works great. I have used it to plane in a router sled. The only downside is the play in the plunge mechanism even when the lever is locked.

everything as presented. works well. noticed a slight wobble as you start plunge. will work on that. works great for sign making .

Great tool. Easy to use! Make sure you bit is longer enough. Regular standard small bit will not work.
